I just began this game yesterday and I have really awful at putting. I don't understand the formulas on YouTube or other websites. I'm confused. I like the game now even though I'm horrible. I got +51 in a bracket tournament and I was awful. I want to become the best player that I can be. Can anyone explain the formulas to me?

    claremoreblue:

( I got +51 in a bracket tournament and I was awful.)  You must have shot that plus 51 on your other account, because you didn't shoot that on this one lol! All you have is blitz and ctth in your score history!

He shows a 133 in a bracket tournament. It appears he just did the math wrong for how much over par he actually was. You might want to look at his score history again.

Never mind - it's becoming better over time!

    A few infos about putting:

    - The length of the putts depends on putting power, on green speed and on slope.

    - Check the green speed in each game.

    - Putters have different scales for different length, and the power acts linear.

    - At "Standard" greens, it's 1:1, 20% power on a 30' scale will move the ball 0.2x30 = 6 feet.

    - As a CC member, you can use the Putter Pal for free - switch it on!

One general advice throughout the game: The "caddie", i.e. the initial club suggestion on every shot, is wrong most of the time. Control it on every shot!!

P.S. Put the Starter putter into your bag again, and include the second wedge, too!

Your owner has to make you a member for the free putter pal.

Here is a generic putting chart, I use for others. Just right click and save image

The best formula out there IMO is this one from Young46, albeit very complicated, but if you put it into a spreadsheet it shouldn't be that bad.

IF elevation(in inches)(positive if uphill, negative if downhill) <0.4, elevation+0.35, IF NOT, elevation +1.35

    Then multiply by 1.94

Divide by distance to the hole (in feet)

Then add the quotient of 17.9 / green speed(the number the game provides, on Championship 13 it would be 13, etc.)

    Then divide by 2.25

Then multiply by the distance (in feet)

    Lastly, add 1.1

I know it is complicated to hand calculate, but if you want to put it into a spreadsheet, the formula is as follows:

    =(((((IF(B2<0.4,B2+0.35,B2+1.35)*1.94)/B1)+17.9/B3)/2.25)*B1+1.1

Cell B1 would be distance in feet

Cell B2 would be elevation in inches (remember positive for uphill and negative for downhill)

Cell B3 would be green speed #

Works on 99% of putts (Hint: generally take off a little bit when putting up more than 10 inches over a ridge)

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,

    Darren

Image below is me attempting to Y46's Putting Formula®,

    =(((((IF(B2<0.4,B2+0.35,B2+1.35)*1.94)/B1)+17.9/B3)/2.25)*B1+1.1,

    to calculate a 4 foot putt!!! 😖
