    Power to achieve

What goal could you set and reach in the next fifteen minutes? Set it, do it, and give yourself an enticing taste of your ability to achieve.

What bigger goal could you set and reach in the next four hours? Give yourself something meaningful to work on, and you’ll get plenty of meaningful work done.

The power of achievement is built into you. To tap into that power, give it a good, solid objective.

Choose not to waste your achievement power on the fleeting desires of each moment. Seek instead to invest it in lasting results.

Decide exactly what you want to do, where you want to go. And you’ll discover how effectively you can get there.

Your power to achieve is a miraculous thing that can benefit not only you, but all the others in your life. For your own sake, for everyone’s sake, make full and eager use of it.

    Choose accordingly

Each time you make a choice, look at the long-term consequences of that choice. In your mind, transcend the moment you’re in.

Consider that choice from the perspective of your whole life. Take into account all the people who could be affected, including yourself and those you care most about.

Respect and respond to the immediate situation, to its opportunities, to its dangers. But don’t let a temporary condition cause you to create a permanent regret.

Some choices enable you to grow stronger. Other choices lead you to become weaker.

Remind yourself of that, and use that reminder to your benefit. Ask yourself if you would rather be stronger or weaker, and choose accordingly.

Your life unfolds largely in accordance with your choices. Find every possible way to make those choices the best they can be.

    Seeing the difficulties

Why are you so skilled at seeing the difficulties? Because it is by addressing those difficulties that you’re able to make progress.

A good and rewarding life is not a life that’s free of challenges. It is a life in which you are energized by those challenges to transcend them.

Do you not know what to do? Your greatest fulfillment comes from figuring it out.

Are you perplexed about how to do it? Then you must set about to find a way.

Is it tiresome, inconvenient, frustrating to make the effort? That’s a good sign the effort is your pathway to achievement, value, satisfaction, and meaning.

When you see that life is difficult what you’re also seeing within yourself is raw energy. Harness that energy and put it to positive use.

    Willing to let go

Sometimes there’s nothing you can do. Sometimes the most positive action you can take is to move on.

That doesn’t mean you must be quick to give up. What it means is you must be willing to let go when that is appropriate.

Many things you can change, yet other things you cannot. Your ability to make progress depends on being able to see and to acknowledge the difference.

Your time, effort, and resources are best invested where you’ll have a positive impact. There is always much you can do to make life better, so put yourself in a place where that can happen.

If there’s something you can do, then persist in doing it. If there’s nothing you can do, and never will be, let it go.

Be realistic about what you cannot do. And give yourself time, space, energy for all the great things you can do.

    Expand your knowledge

It’s good to find information that validates and deepens what you already know. It’s even better to discover credible, compelling information that challenges what you know.

More than one thing can be true at once. More than one perspective can be an accurate depiction of the world.

Even if a differing perspective turns out to be wrong, by considering it you improve the value of your own perspective. And you open yourself to new opportunities for learning.

Be careful not to let your knowledge become a wall that separates you from others. Instead, jump at opportunities to expand your knowledge so that it better connects you with many different people.

Adjusting your perspective is not a rejection of your past experience. On the contrary, it is a more effective way of incorporating that experience into a workable vision of reality.

Be confident enough about what you know to let that knowledge be challenged. You’ll end up with even more knowledge, or greater confidence, or both.

    Work and play

Your work enables you to play, and your play enables you to work. Don’t skip either one or you’ll end up doing neither one very well.

It is by being useless for a while that you get inspired to become more useful. It is by being useful that you earn the time and resources to occasionally be useless.

A common saying is that all work and no play makes you dull and boring. And it’s just as true that all play and no work makes you absolutely intolerable.

So switch it up. Give yourself the work that sustains you and the play that relaxes and invigorates you.

No matter how enjoyable your work may be, it is still work, and your best strategy is to see it as such. No matter how highly focused your play might be, treat it as the play it is.

Whether it’s work or play, go all in and then after a while set it aside. Give your life the benefit of healthy balance.

    Making good use

Achievement is not that far away. And you can act right now to make it even closer.

Your destination is within reach. You can take another step toward it any time you choose.

This moment is an opportunity to make progress. Though your actions may not be perfect, you can go forward with them.

You can give your best effort right now, and then persist in that effort. You can get one part of the work done, and then move forward with another part.

Success in any endeavor is not a mystery. It’s mostly a matter of making good use of the time available to you.

Today you have time available to you. You know what to do.

    Informed by clarity

Even if it’s not such a good place to be, still it is good to know where you stand. Clarity has great value.

When you’re clear about where you are, you can develop and activate a strategy to get where you wish to be. With a detailed view of the situation, you can make specific improvements to that situation.

That’s a whole lot better than denying the situation exists. And it’s a whole lot better than having your view of reality obscured or misrepresented.

Before you solidify your opinion, seek as much clarity as you can get. Before you commit to a plan of action, know clearly what you’re getting into.

Your mind can visualize anything, extrapolating small anecdotes into large trends, and that can often be helpful. Yet it can also lead you to see what was never really there and never will be.

Clarity gets you back into alignment with reality. When your powerful imagination and passion are well-informed by clarity, there are plenty of great things you can do.

    Kindness, pure and sincere

If kindness is to exist, someone has to be the first to offer it. Today, you can be that someone.

If you cannot give kindness, nothing else you have matters. And no matter what else you do or do not have, you always can offer kindness.

Kindness connects, kindness heals, kindness encourages and energizes. Upon all those in its vicinity, kindness confers the joy of being alive.

Kindness affects lives in more ways than you could ever know about. Kindness creates benefits you would never want to be without.

Kindness may not always be your first impulse. Yet it often contributes mightily to your most powerful response.

We are better off together than we are apart. At the heart of how that happens is kindness, pure and sincere.

    Another opportunity

It’s not the end of the world. It’s not the beginning of a glorious new utopia.

It’s another day that you can use to make a difference. It’s another opportunity for you to live your life with richness, love, and meaning.

The winds of opinion shift from one direction to another and back again, repeatedly. Take your bearings, take the situation of the moment into account, and move forward.

What you can do now is what you can always do. Give your sincere best to every endeavor.

Sometimes the challenges are more, sometimes a little less. Sometimes the crowd is with you, other times you must move in spite of the crowd to get where you choose to go.

No matter how you feel about yesterday, today there is much to be thankful for, and plenty of work to do. Consider all that’s available to you, and resolve once again to put it to good use.
