As alluded to above by alosso and others - if your average is 62.22     you might not need to shoot 62 or less to lower your average.

It might be possible to lower your average with say a 65

As a Tour Master -- your average is based only on your best 50 rounds played as a TM.

So (unlikely as it is - it serves to show a simple example)

you might have 35 rounds of 61    and 15 rounds of 66      making 62.20 average

All you need to do to lower your average is shoot a 65

The 65 replaces one of the 66's in your best 50 ranked rounds played as a TM

Your average then drops to 62.18

This is not far from reality, as many players have some great low scores, and some higher scores making up their average. To lower your averaqe you just need to shoot 1 stroke better than the WORST score currently counted in your average calculation. You cannot see this from the stats - so keep monitoring your average if you are saturated - if it moves - then that score was good enough to count.

Those commenting on how little their average drops are probably Legends or TLs. At these levels your average is made up of 500 ranked rounds. Hence eliminating 1 stroke (as above in the 50 ranked rounds example) will drop you average by only 0.002 and it might take 4 or 5 of these before you see your average move, as it is only shown to 2 decimal places.

The average typically does a big jump when you tier up to the next level - because once you level up - the average then is based on 1 ranked round (your first round) - the history is wiped. So if you level up to Legend with an average of 60.999    and then shoot a 72 on your first ranked round as Legend your average will be 72.000

The back 9 at Kiawah is a good course to get lower scores, as is the front 9 at St Andrews.

Set a tourney up in your Country CLub with Low winds and standard greens at Kiawah B9....  your average will begin to change.

If you really want to drop your average - simply have a CC event with easy tees, low wind etc...

    But I ask     Why??

You will then be at a tier that you cannot compete in.

It is better to take your time - do the hard yards - learn all the courses - and get your average down by hard work.

Only then will you be competitive.

True Erica, it took for ever to get my average down to 69.8. I see hacks scoring 30 on p holesat st. andrews. I don't see how.

Any chance you know what I need to shoot to get under 61 and how many, or give me the formula to do it myself? This is to get to Legend?

PsWifi cut off on 16th in Showdown at -9 with a tap in and a reachable par 5 to come...

finished 23rd when I had outside chance of winning but definitely top 7 probably 3rd tbh. I’m scared for life. Wow, I went crazy. What a time to go off. It NEVER goes off without warning. Lag yes, but go off completely, not once in 5 years at least (Virgin Media).

Thanks Man, you really run WGT. They’re USELESS. Without you, I’d be pulling my hair out all the time. Friend me and I’ll give something back when I can. Gotta get last set of clubs at 96...wedges will need changing too for the balance.

I need a better ball, but that’s a year away. After I get to 96 and sorted my bag out.

    Look at your score history:

It's a lucky fact that the move from Master to TM is still visible.

Of your 117 TM scores, only 2 are apparently Par3 to exclude. You are well saturated.

The 50 best scores of these include 11x 64, and 16 scores better than 61.

Unfortunately, the resulting average is off your official one - can't explain the difference.

But, from the numbers that I have, it seems obvious that only scores better than 64 will budge your average. How many, depends on the score numbers.

Right now your scoring pool is 50 * 62,34 = 3,117 strokes. Your goal is 50*61 = 3,050 strokes, you have to scrape off 67 strokes.

    Say you'd shoot 59s, bettering the pool by 5, then 4 strokes with each score. That would take you 11*5 (*) + 3*4 (**) = 14 games to arrive at 3,050 ( / 50 = 61.00).
    (*) eliminating the 64s
    (**) eliminating the 63s.

THE END IS NIGH - concentrate on the fun!

Wow, thanks for this. It’s amazing you have done this. I have gotten down to 61.6 now, so not too long to go.

Re having fun, I am, it’s a goal I’m finding a challenge and a reason to play as I cannot afford the balls to compete atm.

My plan is to get to Legend so always off the backs. Get used to the courses, renew my Irons L96 and 1 wedge (to make my bag balanced, even shot distances), Then Driver L97, see how things go for a while, then save for a solid ball that is sustainable.

Then I see it as starting the game proper. The previous before that being apprenticeship, training, Tour School, whatever way you want to describe it.

I play 2-3 sponsored 30mins 1 holers (5-8 holes) to get the aperel for the coins. All aperel is 8 and 2 have ‘upgrade ready for 9, of which 1 is ~800 of 1000 to L10.

I’m on day 127 so I have put a lot of work in.

I’ll settle into a better system after I reach 97 (maybe 101 for the top driver, not sure yet).

I’ve only spent £3 altogether for 20k coins an Bridgestone slow meter balls. For Showdown.

was -8 after 16 with a gimme, that nearly went in 0.2ft with a short easily reachable par 5 to come. Winner was -12, 2nd -10 Then 3-4 -9’s.

On the ‘gimme on 16, the WiFi went off, and before I got my mobile phone connected, I was forfeited.

Bogey last 3 (in the rules) so -5 when Top 10 was set, top 5 probably, and 2nd a good possibility.

    Finished 23rd lol.

Thanks for all you do, man. Is lazy Brits moan about immigration, but I ask a German guy to figure out the Maths for getting to under 61 ;).

I have a business with 5 employees to run so time is tight, plus family life.

Also, I’m using the WGT g-12 64cr ball with spin (not the distance one).

I could easily get lower scores if I bought slower meter, longer distance more spin balls, but that cuts into my future potential equipment, so it is kind of a ‘cheat’ getting to Legend this way, but I always play off ‘default’ tees and with the ball, Imstill win most of the club tournaments I create to do this.

So it’ not really easy, like one member puts on:

He uses front tees, slow greens, low wind.

I use default tees, fast greens, low wind.

He made Legend and has an ave of 57. But not many WGT top 10’s or 100’s (I have 2 top 10’s and 8 top 100’s. I also put on Tournements I played in everyday for the daily Xp’s On Tournement greens to get used to them. Quite a few of the 60-62’s are from them, mainly St. Andrews, then Bethpage.

Chambers Bay best was 65 and a few 67-8’s and a couple 75’s. Tougher than I thought. Was trying to do easiest to hardest every week to get used to the Tournament Speed greens.

Thanks you literal Legend,(off the coursevas well as on).

You're welcome! It was a fun exercise after some pause...

About future levels, you may have noticed that the grind became heavy at L89 - that will increase:

L101 is at 2.5M XPs - five times your current amount!

So, take what you want and can get before your hair is grey <eg>
