Lowering my average score

  I've been holding at a 62.22 average now for quite sometime.

  Can anyone explain just how to get my average down?  I play most courses under par, even, or around +1, but yet the average does not change.

  How can I determine what score I need to shoot to get the average score coming down?

  It would stand to reason that you must shoot below your current average to make it go down. 62 or better for 18 holes and/or 31 for 9 holes.

  Exactly, you have basically 2 choices / ways to lower your avg.
  
  1. as Cerino said, to score 31 and/or below on 9 or 62 and/or below on 18 holes.
  
  2. and the faster but probably(depending on your skills) harder way : Beat higher tiered players (Legends/Tour Legends) in scored or challenge Matchplay.

  Fortunately, it's not that hard.

  First of all, start to think in gross scores rather than +-Par, and double 9 hole scores for this calculation. Thus you are talking about 67 to 73, from your last scores.

  The average is computed from a certain number of the best scores in one tier.

  Once an average is "saturated" like yours is, only those scores will modify it which push a higher one out. This may be a 68 / 34 now, but quite certainly not a 70.

  Just watch which scores will diminuish the average, this shows you where you are.

  Yeah right. My average was 69.1 and then I just shot 10 under qualifying for the WGT virtual Tour Open. My average is now, 69.1.

  So you hit the equivalent of about 70 and wonder why your average doesn't lower from 62.

  I'd explain it to you, but I'd have to pick up some arithmetic flash cards from Walmart.

  Hiya. Playing more ranked rounds and fewer CTTH games would soon bring it down.

  It wont move playing the best of par 5's or par 3's

  10 under does nothing for your average. Kindly refer to gross scores: 80 in that case, a tad high, don't you think?

  In addition, Par3 and Par5 courses do not count for the average.
