How do you play from mulch?

  I've hit in the mulch to the right of #7 Kiawah on two occasions. Both times it said "15%-20%", yet a pitch didn't even move the ball and a half punch just barely got it out of the mulch, still short of the green.

  What does the 15% mean? It's obviously not the same 15% that shows for rough or sand.

  That shot should be labeled 60 / 70%. Not the norm...

  60/70% is more realistic. I have had mixed success hitting a full shot with reduced power. As in real golf, if you hit too deep in mulch the ball will go nowhere so make sure it is a clean hit so I do not use full backspin.

  This is a shot we seldom come across and the time I wish I could use a mulligan to experiment.

  Use a full shot with full backspin, and add about 20 yards.

  It plays identical to 40-50% rough.

  I just tried a practice hole on #7 and hit a full 60° punch shot with backspin (rated at 62 yards). It flew 25 yards and managed stay on the green. That's good enough for at least a par if you're there in two.

  I just wish I'd known this before getting a double bogey in the monthly multi-round tournament.

  Renni usually just grabs a bunch of it and runs up a tree to build a nest with it so he can kick back and chug some squirrel beer an throw acorns down on the next fool that lands in it.
