I've played some multiplayer rounds where those whom I played against wouldn't say a word.  Why would you do this?  I play with others for the conversation.  If you want to be antisocial, then why not just play a single player round?

I too enjoy chat during a round. It makes the game more sociable and relaxing. But sometimes I encounter a player that never responds, so I purposely chat even more just to tick him/her off.
