    I am about a 30 minute drive from Chambers Bay.

    Bogeyone , what are the huge concrete hopper type things that we see besides the fairway. Can’t remember which hole but I am sure you will know ?

    I think you are referring to hole 17. It has been many years since I was in the area of University Place (a far south suburb of Tacoma). I worked for Union Pacific Railroad in Seattle (retired 2 years ago in January) and made the commute 5 days a week from the Olympia area and on occasion when I-5 had traffic issues my GPS navigator (Waze) would run me down Custer Point Road which very close to Chambers for a stretch but not close enough to see the course. I believe what you are seeing is the uncompleted link to Highway 16. Or you might be referring to some type of grain storage that was related to the railroad tracks. Also, as I understand it, the property that Chambers Bay now occupies was a huge landfill so they could have something to do with that. That pretty much encompasses all the possibilities I can think of.

    Thanks for that , yes like you say could be a number of things , just seems a bit of a blot on the landscape . Cheers

    They are left over *hoppers* for creating concrete, asphalt, and a littany of other coarse sands and gravel mixtures for roads, foundaions, slab floors, ect..

    Partial structures from the original plant left over because of the inabilty to move them elsewhere

    They are now manufacture from metal, as to relocate if necessary

    Pebble Beach is a 20 minute drive from my place on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula.
