    After viewing the 120th Open 2nd round player order which I viewed as very confusing, how do they choose the pecking order of the players?

    reverse of round 1....same pairings...round 1 a.m. players get a round 2 p.m start.  there are some protocols for initial pairing based on tournament tradition...for example, the reigning US open champ plays with the current British Open champ and  the US Amateur champ.
