    Hi Guys

     

    Hope you are all well, was hoping someone would help me please with calculations, most of my putting is feel but that is unreliable the majority of the time.

     

    I have watched lots of videos in particular Young46 and I have decided to count dots using JCsneed method and see if my putting improves or learn more as a result and understand putting better.

     

    my question is based on what I have managed to calculate myself and I think i have filled in some gaps but looking to see if I am close with the different speeds of dots and counting them.

     

    I have worked out for my grid it is 12 secs for 100, so 6 secs 200, i would love to know what it would be for 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20 secs - based on 12 secs which is 100, what would the correct numbers be for all the numbers included, my maths is shocking so I have guessed them all, if anyone could fill in the gaps and tell me the numbers for all of those I would be forever in your debt, many thanks in advance

    Hi Paul. Try dividing 1200 by the number of seconds.

    1200 ÷ 12 seconds = 100

    1200 ÷ 6 seconds = 200

    I disagree. That's the only way I have ever putted using the avatar moves. Play enough and the feel gets easier. What trying to nail down exact methods does is confuse the hell out of you simply because green speeds aren't constant. 

    IMO, you're better off staying with that feel and looking at what you're putting with. Balance in a putter makes a huge difference in how a putt holds the line and forgiveness affects how misses work. You're fighting the issues with a lower level putter.

    Buying a better putter isn't going to immediately fix your issues but it will give you a better tool to handle that feel when the putts start rolling true.  :-)

    I don't understand what you mean by 100-200. Your reference number is 6'' for a grid. So, let's have an example: 22 ft putt 4 down. Timing: 7 sec. 6:7 = 0.85 x 26 (22 + 4) = 22.1. You need to aim almost 2 grids and hit the right speed.

    As Jim mentioned, putting by feel will be your strongest development asset. From there you can incorporate putting methods that rely on numbers and aim points. However if you don’t have a foundational knowledge of how the greens are designed, you will have a much harder time putting with numbers bc they rely on your to make subtle changes depending on the situation. This comes from experience and reading lines on the greens via various dot movements/speeds. 

    As for the math portion, if you say 12 is your 100, then all the following numbers will be divided by that number. 12-100, 6-200, 3-400, 2-600.

    E=MC.....WAAAAY TO MUCH WORK!!!  I am a "Feel" putter (have not even looked at a calculator since 9th grade?)

    That’s why they call you the ghost. Your putts disappear into the cup ;-)

    after about 15 months of watching videos last august, i bought the best putter in the game, the golden putter.  The precision, balance, and forgiveness are off the charts.  Dwarfing the next best putter.

    You 100% have to have the perfect line with the GP, because it will just hold the line as sure as it's gonna be 90 degrees today.  That putter, is the epitome of a "ding" putter.  In order to play the missding game with that piece of equipment you have to missding by a great margin.

    With the lower level putters, you can have the line close, missding it, and for lack of a better term, be golden.  Once you start getting the putters with higher balance and forgiveness, it seems your margin for error actually goes down.
