    I wonder if players agree with me.   It seems rather odd, that when you play game and get a score of 5 under par, you only get point 1 knocked off your handicap.   Any comments please!

    Just wait til you get to Champion... and you will need to shoot 8 or 9 under to get your average to drop.

    LOL

    Don

    Actually Don he is playing mostly 18 hole rounds. and -5 on 18 isn't going to lower his average much if any. For me playing 18 holes I would have to shoot 57 to lower my average even 0.01 That would be -13 on a par 70,,-14 on a par 71 and -15 on a par 72.

    And if he is not saturated he won't drop much anyway. Because some of his 9 holes scores are over par.

    Note that WGT does not compute handicaps, only average.

    The average is exactly what it says and does not consider par - or how many shots below/above par.

    Since it starts over every time you tier up, it only uses the scores since that time.  It's tough when you reach Legend - everything gets harder and getting an average back down is difficult!

    First of all, change your POV, go to gross numbers.

    Your average is 69.61, your last scores were 40, 65, 67, translating to 80, 65, 67.

    80 devastates your average unless it's saturated.The other scores would only cause "mild" movement. Assuming 300 Legend rounds,

    65 => -4.6/300 = 0.0153 => 0.01 or 0.02 knocked off (remember rounding),

    67 => -2.6/300 = 0.0087 => zero or 0.01 movement down.

    As a hint, you must learn the law of the big denominator, and patience ;)
