Absolutely worth the drive. It's very scenic with the desert landscape and mountains but the big solar power plant has some pretty bright rays streaming from the big mirrors to the boiler towers. That detracts from the views but it's clean energy and no one lives nearby. It's very remote out there.

I'll add that although the place is remote there are amenities close by. Seven miles up the I-15 are the Buffalo Bill's and Whiskey Pete's casinos with lodging, gaming and even a roller coaster. Multiple fast food places, buffets, a Denny's, gas stations and an indoor shopping mall. It's also about 45 miles south of the Las Vegas Strip and McCarran Airport. It can be a decent place to spend a vacation.

If you decide to play it go for the Lakes course instead of the Desert course. They both have about the same amount of water hazards on them but the Lakes course has more trees and is a few degrees cooler as a result. Also, be aware that the place gets quite breezy every afternoon.
