Who can come close to riding up alongside him at the moment? Thoughts anyone? Opinions? Bloviations?

20 footer for birdie uphill on 18, no problem for the" Wonder From Down Under "  Rory & Ricky are in the mix but they will have to go real low though to catch him , its fitting if he wins the BMW Championship because he is the " Ultimate Driving Machine "     :)    ..

Yes he is...for now. He is a fine representative, a kind Gentleman, and a terrific player. However, the #1 is a hat being passed around, for now. among the current crop of hotties, none of whom can hold on to it...own it for more than a moment...

    Now an ex No 1.

I guess it been quite a long time sice there was such close standings in the world rankings.

There will be around 6, perhaps  7 players capable of becoming the world number 1 in 2016 as the new season starts in the Winter. There will be a lot of changes at the top.

Stenson, Day, Mc,Ilroy, Zac Johnson, Dustin Johnson,  Rose, Watson and Fowler, just to name eight that will be looking to challenge Speith in the course of the next 12 months.

It's looks most unlikely that there will be someone holding down the top spot for months or years at a time.

The problem with golf is it's becoming bland vanilla again....interchangeable robotic golfing machines....Tiger Woods' best golfing days are probably behind him, but he is still the one who attracts the crowds and who the ladies readily give their room keys to....we need another Palmer or Woods to keep interest in a game where millionaires play for more millions....and where we can rarely differentiate one golfer from another. I'm not sure the trend toward loud clothing alone will do it.
