A putt is not actually considered a putt when it's taken from off the green surface. So if you stroke a shot with your putter from the fairway or the fringe, it is not a putt. That's why you didn't receive the award.
However, right now the game is counting any stroke with a putter as a putt, regardless of whether you are in the bunker, on the tee or on the fringe. This is a stat tracking error on our side.
