In my experience with the wind (I have been here a year) I have learned that there DOES seem to be a "random" factor built in with the wind.
I have referred to this with a sentence "Sometimes it seems the wind doesn't matter".
You will see other members referrring to wind variances as "The Beast".
In short - MOST of the time the wind will behave as you expect and adjust for BUT NOT ALWAYS. I personally chalk this up to what might happen in real life where a strong wind may suddenly die off OR gust stronger just as you hit the ball.
There is an interesting "swirling" effect to the wind evident (this is MY interpretation) most notably evident on BPB # 8 where you are hittng from an elevated tee to a green considerably lower. An 8 MPH crosswind can behave differently here on different days. Throw in a change in the pin position and all bets are off. This hole is also curious as the usual wisdom with regard to a change in elevation seems to NOT apply - this one seems to play pretty much the measured distance. A mistake or bug? Not as I interpret it - the big difference seems to lie in the fact that we are LANDING on an upward sloped (AWAY from the tee) green. As this upward slope is fairly pronounced, it tends to kill any bounce and roll...MOST of the time - watch how you spin it!
