Two quick question....why is the far left fairway on #1 at St. Andrews(left of the stream) considered OB and why does OB result in a lost ball?

    Why is it OB?

Any further left of this is in the road most likely.

Why is it a lost ball?  A safety consideration.

Many WGT golfers had been injured crossing traffic to retrieve their ball.

I always assume the perimeter around the hole diagram is the boundary of the course.  Anything outside that will surly result in a OB ruling.  Unlike real golf, were the player determines whether a ball is OB or lost, here the commuter decides.  Who knows, maybe some day WGT will give us a 5 minute search option (for 5 credits of course).  Regardless, the result is the same...both incur a stroke and distance penalty...which is why I'd like a chance to find my ball (wink).

Here's the reverse view on that same angle.  This helps you see what's going on over on the left side a little better.

If I can lose balls then why can't I find them. This is nothing like real golf. :-)
