I was just wondering if WGT has thought about putting an option on the game to drop a ball when it is next to a tree or other object?  That would help tremendously to lower scores.  Sometimes when next to tree or other object it is very difficult to hit the ball and get out of that situtation where it takes several attempts to get the ball out of that lie.

In the (real) game of golf there is not an option to drop away from a tree in order to save a stroke.

um the last time i checked you can take a drop for a penalty stroke!!! taking a stroke is much better than trying to hit the ball 5 or 6 times to get it out cause you cant get the right angle. check your rule book on golf!

Not simply to save a stroke. Rules for taking a drop are somewhat limited.

    USGA:
The player may deem his ball unplayable at any place on the course, except when the ball is in a water hazard. The player is the sole judge as to whether his ball is unplayable.

If the player deems his ball to be unplayable, he must, under penalty of one stroke:

    a. Play a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played (see Rule 20-5); or

    b. Drop a ball behind the point where the ball lay, keeping that point directly between the hole and the spot on which the ball is dropped, with no limit to how far behind that point the ball may be dropped; or

    c. Drop a ball within two club-lengths of the spot where the ball lay, but not nearer the hole.

This is what he's talking about.  You have the right to determine your ball unplayable at any point and take a drop while incurring a penalty stroke.  There's been a few times i would have used this option if it was available.  I suppose it would be nice to have this as an option if they could work it in eventually.

thanks oaktthatoke im glad that u know what im talking about and know the rules of golf... also it would be nice to be able to take a drop, sometimes like when up against a tree, it very hard to get the right angle to hit it out and it takes sometimes 5 or 6 tries to get it out and if there would be an option to take a drop that would save on strokes and lower scores. thanks again for the backup!!!!

Try moving the aim arc behind you, the avatar will pivot with the aim arc, then you can hit the ball away from your obstruction. The max distance will show only five yards, but you'll be able to hit as far as you want. Be careful though, you can hit it to hard and find yourself in a worse position, but it works just the same. WGTniv helped me with this tip.

    Play well.
