    Hi All,

I'm heading to Vegas for a week in September, never been to America before, let alone Vegas, so looking for any recommendations you may have on golfing stay and play type packages in Vegas itself.

Would you advise ringing the hotels direct for deals ? Any good stay and play type web sitesites / travel agents ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Muzza.

By the way, Vegas is not America. Otherwise, have fun.

I went to Vegas some years ago to play in a pro-am, and as with all courses I've played in America, all are top notch.  Unfortunately I can't remember what courses I played except for Sun Mountain and Snow Mountain in the Paiute Golf Resort, which is a little way out of town.  But whichever courses you choose you will most definitely have fun.  Be careful of the stuttering meter on water holes; America is notorious for having lots of water on their courses - where do you think the idea of 'lake balls' came from??  We certainly had no such thing in the UK years ago; when a ball was wet, it stayed wet, unless you could reach it with your scoop.

With regards to hotels, I don't think they will be overly cheap, but you can get deals as they all want you in their hotel; staying with them means you will most likely gamble mostly in their casino, and EVERY hotel has a casino... right as you walk through the front door so that you can't avoid going through it.  Even the most ardent of non-gamblers eventually have a flutter.  But so long as you are disciplined with your money, you can have lots of fun.  I would strongly recommend the craps tables, but this is where you can lose most too.

Whatever hotel you stay in, visiting all the others is a must, in the evenings of course; watch the musical fountain display outside Bellagio's, the gondola ride in The Venetian, the moving statue displays in another hotel (may be Ceasar's Palace, can't remember now), and many, many more.  You will certainly not get bored.  And you can go into every hotel (because they want you in their casino!).

The hotel lifts (elevators) are amazing; unlike UK lifts which take a week to traverse one floor, their lifts will take you 30 floors in seconds, and with such elegance that you feel you haven't actually moved at all!

I also took a helicopter ride down The Strip and around The Stratosphere - it's an amazing sight from the air.  Unfortunately, the heli was rather small, a bit cramped for 4 passengers plus a driver.

Whatever you do, wherever you go, whatever courses you play, you cannot but have fun.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the hotel restaurants.  Yes, the hotel restaurants... mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

    shoop:

    Who asked you   ?

Maybe you should go and carry on doing what you do best - posting multiple times daily on dormant account's walls...

And you delete them quick enough too, but you missed this one...

    gg???  On a dormant account???

I played at Dragon Ridge on one Vegas trip & meant to do it on several others but tend to get caught up at the tables. :-)

Dragon Ridge was a heck of a nice course and I believe it is the location of Tiger's annual charity fundraising tournament (not sure if it still is but it was in '03).  Try to make sure you have a window seat on the airplane cause it's a pretty cool sight to look down at the layout.  You'll notice real quick that the only green grass you'll see is golf courses or ball fields.....crazy sight basically in the middle of the desert.  Also, take plenty of balls to any of their golf courses as I doubt you'll be real interested to go poking around in the desert looking for 'em....lol, well unless you are a bigger fan of rattlesnakes than I am. :-)

    Have fun!

Desert Pines Golf Club on Bonanza Ave in Vegas....very nice course. Water comes into play on all but 4 or 5 holes if I remember correctly.

Lost Wages in September? Hmm...Be prepared for some HOT weather, however. I mean HOT ! 100 + degrees.
