I've tried the recommended fixes. First I thought it was my computer, (which is a 4 month old HP pc laptop with lots of power and memory - it is especially configured for gaming) so I tried my wife's brand new Apple Mac Pro.  Her's loaded faster between shots, and the screen looked nicer, but the meter was just as jumpy after a few holes played.  A week or two ago, I was shooting 72 or less at Kiawah and Bethpage in practice and on registered rounds.  My scoring average was around 69.  Recently the meter has been a herky jerky disaster on irons and putts mostly. And my rounds now typically get 25 to 40 disconnect and load manager issue boxes between shots.  It is no fun fighting the meter and rounds now take me over an hour or hour and a half to struggle through.  I am lucky to hit 77 or 79 at Bethpage now and am lately finding the game a lot less interesting and a lot more frustrating, solely due to the meter and load issues, which were not as pronounced as in the past week or two.

I'll be playing a lot less frequently and when I do I will be quitting out of rounds when I find the meter acting up.

I have seen many similar posts.  I really enjoy the WGT game and admire the staff there at the beauty and realism of the course graphics.  I really want to keep at it and look forward to smoother operations soon.

Play on the "off peak" times, it makes a world of difference for me.

If I play from 9 - 11:30PM Eastern time I am almost guaranteed to have meter stutter, graphic loading issues, game loading issues, they all go together.

When I play on off peak times the game is totally different.

When I play at like 3 in the morning, the game plays like a DREAM, perfect everything, no sign or whiff of a stutter at all, I can play 18 flawless holes.

Someday WGT will upgrade the servers and this will fix some of the problems for people, of course people with too many process's running in the background etc will always have issues.  IF you can, try to play the off peak times.

    Hope that helps.

That sucks man, sorry to hear of your troubles. I know you can't re-arrange your schedule or anything, but can you play in the mornings? I think alot of the meter stutter is due to server load when the place is busy. I stopped trying to play in the evenings when alot of guys are on. In the mornings and early afternoon the meter is smooth. Very smooth.

Why don't WGT just upgrade the servers (and don't start about money - I'm sure they would not even have the game if this was an issue) I noted that when the new weekly / monthly tournaments came out lagging was awful, and I had to abandon one or two of them.

Of course everyone wants to play the tournies as soon as they come out, but how about if they were staggered so that Amateur / Pro and Master played on the first day or two ?

I think every member on this site has requested a better meter, but wgt never seems to have an answer to their requests.

    jayjonbeach,

This is a great point, and I'd like to take it a step further and put in a suggestion for WGT to implement some type of server load% function that would help us choose which game/server to use for game play. I'm not sure how they physically have the servers set up, if there are different ones for each course, etc etc - but it would be a welcome addition to be able to select a less stressed server, or choose not to play based on server load.

Heh-That's because you're asleep and dreaming, jj. (WGT's subliminal forces at work.) LOL

Folks, I appreciate all the commiseration and tips on dealing with the little frustrations.  I got responses on the chat and via email from fellow players and from WGT staff.  Off peak helps (both in terms of the WGT site and general internet traffic) and I also got a little download that seems to help the swing meter smooth out so that I get about half as many stutters.  WGT is a terrific online community - very helpful.

Haven't experimented with 3am play yet.  Not that I don't have insomnia, but I'm afraid my cussing would wake the family and upset the dog!  Golf has the same effect on me whether on line or on the course:  I'm always delighted to be playing, but can't seem to suppress my cussing.  Maybe I'll sound-proof the den.

Thanks for the tips and good cheer!

    palupear,

I had similar issues. I just recently upgraded my internet service and what a difference. I haven't had the meter jump once. Not even a hickup in the last week. With that, I dropped around $40 for new clubs. I don't know if it's a combination of practice, clubs, and internet service, but my average sky rocketed almost over night.

I used to be an advocate for TWO, but now I'm addicted to this game. Hope you stick around and things clear up for you. You'd really be missing out.
