You need a higher scoring average.  Especially for a guy who just started a few weeks ago.  Didn't you also have a problem with just 6 courses your last time around?

... not to mention that his friend has only been on the site for a month and is averaging 63.67!  Case of the pot calling the kettle black?  I think they've been making stinky cheese fondue in that pot and kettle.

THIS COURSE HAS MY ATTENDTION HORSESHOE BAY GOLF COURSE LOOKS GREAT TO PLAY ON

    GRAB THIS ONE WGT

    Course Layout

Enjoy your experience on this championship golf course that winds its way through the old apple orchards of Door County.  This Links style course will challenge golfers of any ability as it continually challenges one's mental game as well as their physical game.

Take a minute to go through the golf course as the holes are listed individually below as well as some tips on how to score your best.

    Hole #1 - "Over Tecumseh"
    Par 4
    Men's Handicap - 14     Ladies' Handicap - 16

    •  Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            • Black Tees - 402 Yards
            • Blue Tees - 373 Yards
            • White Tees - 348 Yards
            • Red Tees - 292 Yards

The first hole should not be a difficult start to your round as you are presented with a relatively wide fairway and few hazards.  Off the tee, favor the right side while avoiding the fairway bunker.  From here, a slightly uphill approach is to a green wide open in front.

    Hole #2 - "Hidden Creek"
    Par 4

    Men's Handicap - 2     Ladies' Handicap - 2

    •  Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            • Black Tees - 403 Yards
            • Blue Tees - 383 Yards
            • White Tees - 359 Yards
            • Red Tees - 321 Yards

This dogleg right par 4 marks the start of several risk-reward situations prevalent here.  The safe tee shot is down the left side, but leaves a long second shot.  The riskier play is to the right side between the bunker and the water.  This option sets up a shorter, more open approach.  The choice is yours.  Pin location on this multiple tier green will determine whether this is a birdie hole or a tough par.

    Hole #3 - "Cooperstown"
    Par 3
    Men's Handicap - 18     Ladies' Handicap - 18

    •  Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            • Black Tees - 174 Yards
            • Blue Tees - 162 Yards
            • White Tees - 135 Yards
            • Red Tees - 109 Yards

The tee placement and hole location determine the difficulty of this par 3.  A right side pin will make for a difficult par, while left side pin locations set up for easier birdie opportunities.  Be careful not to miss in the swale to the left of the green as it makes for a difficult par save regardless of the pin location.

    Hole #4 - "Tornado Alley"
    Par 5

    Men's Handicap - 12     Ladies' Handicap - 10

    •  Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            • Black Tees - 521 Yards
            • Blue Tees - 495 Yards
            • White Tees - 466 Yards
            • Red Tees - 414 Yards

This first par 5, with a snaking fairway, presents several options on to attack it.  If you would like to go for the green in two, your tee shot should carry the first bunker on the right, leaving a straight approach to an open green.  If you are laying up, avoid the bunker 80 yards short of the putting surface.  The split fairway from 100 yards in presents two different looks at the green for your third shot, favor the left if possible as it leaves you straight onto the severe slope in the middle of the green.  This is the first and one of the few realistic birdie opportunities on the course.

    Hole #5 - "Twister's Gulch"
    Par 3
    Men's Handicap - 8     Ladies' Handicap - 12

    •  Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            • Black Tees - 207 Yards
            • Blue Tees - 196 Yards
            • White Tees - 181 Yards
            • Red Tees - 147 Yards

Rocks, low native areas, and bunkers greet you on this challenging par 3.  There is some margin for area short and left of the large three-tiered green.  However, anything not on the green leaves a difficult up and down for par.  A right side hole location can lead to trouble for an overly aggressive player.  Three is a very good score here.

    Hole #6 - "Old Cherry"
    Par 4
    Men's Handicap - 16     Ladies' Handicap - 14

    •  Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            • Black Tees - 361 Yards
            • Blue Tees - 334 Yards
            • White Tees - 305 Yards
            • Red Tees - 277 Yards

The sixth hole is the shortest par 4 on the course, but don't let that fool you; it definitely puts you to the test.  Aggressive hitters can favor the left side of the fairway leaving a short second.  A tee shot down the right is a much safer play, but control of your approach is critical on one of the most undulating greens on the course.  A definite birdie opportunity, but big numbers also loom here.

    Hole #7 - "Murphy Lumber"
    Par 4
    Men's Handicap - 6     Ladies' Handicap - 6

    •  Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            • Black Tees - 407 Yards
            • Blue Tees - 384 Yards
            • White Tees - 366 Yards
            • Red Tees - 329 Yards

This hole will play longer than yardage due to the slight uphill approach to the green.  A tee shot on the left side of the fairway gives a player the most straightforward shot into the green.  Do not miss this green long as it makes for an extremely difficult up and down.  The three-tiered green is one of the most difficult on the course.  Par is a good score.

    Hole #8 - "The Ledges"
    Par 5
    Men's Handicap - 10     Ladies' Handicap - 8

    •  Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            • Black Tees - 535 Yards
            • Blue Tees - 508 Yards
            • White Tees - 481 Yards
            • Red Tees - 436 Yards

This beautiful par 5 gives the player several choices for every shot.  A low rock ledge splits the first landing area.  The left hand fairway is wider, but the right side gives a better look at the green for those attempting to hit it in two.  When laying up, be sure to avoid the bunker 80 yards short of the green.  Be careful when deciding where to hit your approach, as anything short and left will funnel down to the lower swale.  Pin position will have an impact on your score.

    Hole #9 - "Horseshoe View"
    Par 4
    Men's Handicap - 4     Ladies' Handicap - 4

    •  Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            • Black Tees - 415 Yards
            • Blue Tees - 384 Yards
            • White Tees - 351 Yards
            • Red Tees - 317 Yards

The downhill slope and slight bend to the right create a relatively blind tee shot.  Long hitters beware, the two fairway bunkers on the left will gobble up anything hit through the fairway.  Off the tee, favor a 3-wood to stay short of the bunkers or a fade to be in the optimal right hand position.  It is better to miss this green short than long as this well protected green breaks toward the water.  Enjoy the view of the bay as you continue on to #10!

Hole #10 - "Ida Red Rose"
    Par 4
    Men's Handicap - 11     Ladies' Handicap - 9

    •  Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            • Black Tees - 419 Yards
            • Blue Tees - 384
            • White Tees - 353
            • Red Tees - 322

This hole favors a tee shot down the left side leaving the best possible angle into the green.  Beware the left hand fairway bunker.  A conservative approach will favor the left hand side of the green avoiding the two green side bunkers on the right.  There is little room for error both right and long for anyone trying to attack the flag.

    Hole #11 - "Blasted Rocks"
    Par 4
    Men's Handicap - 9     Ladies' Handicap - 11

    •  Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            • Black Tees - 408 Yards
            • Blue Tees - 378 Yards
            • White Tees - 344 Yards
            • Red Tees - 290 Yards

This intimidating tee shot tempts long hitters to carry the bunker on the right.  There is plenty of room to the left of the bunker, and ideal position will be 125-150 yards from the green.  The approach is uphill to a tree-protected green that is bisected in two by a large slope.  Birdie is a good possibility here.

    Hole #12 - "Big Mac"
    Par 4
    Men's Handicap - 13     Ladies' Handicap - 13

    •  Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            • Black Tees - 398 Yards
            • Blue Tees - 364 Yards
            • White Tees - 329 Yards
            • Red Tees - 295 Yards

The landing area in the fairway appears generous, but is guarded by bunkers both right and left.  Favor the left if possible, as it leaves an approach that is more open to the left of the green.  Both left and right of the green the ground slopes away, meaning anything not on target will bounce away from the green.  Players will be rewarded with pars and birdies if they can place their approach on the correct tier of the green.

    Hole #13 - "Double Delicious"
    Par 5
    Men's Handicap - 5     Ladies' Handicap - 1

    •  Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            •
              • Black Tees - 584 Yards
              • Blue Tees - 545 Yards
              • White Tees - 505 Yards
              • Red Tees - 445 Yards

The thirteenth begins the stretch of six holes that can make or break your round.  Strategy is key on this long and winding par 5.  Ideal placement for long hitters is just to the right of the lone pot bunker on the left leaving the best angle to possibly go for the green in two.  If you are planning on going for the green in regulation, ideal placement is between the left and right bunkers.  Depending on wind conditions and pin placement should determine whether or not you select the right or left side fairways, though you should note that if you choose left, you can possibly never have to carry the environmental hazard.  Either side will require an accurate layup as their is hazard left and OB right.  From there, your approach to the green will need to be fairly accurate as there is a false front that if hit will roll back 40 yards short of the green.  There is a heavy contour line that bisects this green as well.  A challenging par to say the least!

    Hole #14 - "Udderly Dangerous"
    Par 4
    Men's Handicap - 3     Ladies' Handicap - 3

    •  Yardage
      •
        •
          • Black Tees - 449 Yards
          • Blue Tees - 417 Yards
          • White Tees - 384 Yards
          • Red Tees - 336 Yards

This long, demanding par 4 will test your nerves.  Find the fairway off the tee or you will have some work to do.  Approaches that favor the left will find the benefit of a landing area, but leave a difficult up and down.  Those that want to challenge the green in two will have to carry two bunkers as well as be careful not to go long.  There is a severe slope bisecting the green from front to back as well as some serious contours.  A challenging hole for a player of any ability.

Hole #15 - "Cloak and Dagger"
    Par 3
    Men's Handicap - 17     Ladies' Handicap - 15

    • Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            • Black Tees - 164 Yards
            • Blue Tees - 146 Yards
            • White Tees - 132 Yards
            • Red Tees - 113 Yards

Club selection is critical on this short, but deceiving, par 3.  The bunker in front of the green is actually 20 yards short of the front edge.  Distance control will determine your score, as the green is divided from front to back in three segments.

    Hole #16 - "Carmody's Challenge"
    Par 4
    Men's Handicap - 1     Ladies' Handicap - 5

    •  Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            • Black Tees - 455 Yards
            • Blue Tees - 429 Yards
            • White Tees - 402 Yards
            • Red Tees - 358 Yards

This longest par 4 on the course has a wide fairway, allowing long hitters to swing away.  Avoid the native areas along the left side and an open approach to the green will be the result.  Most players will be coming in with a long iron or hybrid, so play for the front of the green with the hopes of running it to the middle.  The green has three tiers, and pin location can have an impact on strategy.  Avoid the left green side bunker at all costs.  Four is a great score.

    Hole #17 - "Plum Good'
    Par 3
    Men's Handicap - 15     Ladies' Handicap - 17

    • Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            • Black Tees - 195 Yards
            • Blue Tees - 170 Yards
            • White Tees - 161 Yards
            • White Tees (Alternate) - 137 Yards
            • Red Tees - 134

The large boomerang shaped green on this par 3 is divided into three smaller sections by a large ridge.  The ridge and the bunkers short of and over the green make the target small.  Precise iron play will be rewarded, but there are opportunities to save par as there are layup areas both left and right of the green.

Hole #18 - "Beauty of the Beast"
    Par 5
    Men's Handicap - 7     Ladies' Handicap - 7

    • Yardage
      •
        •
          •
            •
              •
                • Black Tees - 604
                • Blue Tees - 549
                • White Tees - 515
                • Red Tees - 461

Finding the fairway is key off this tee.  Long hitters beware, the bunkers at the end are in play.  Carrying the bunkers on the right is no easy task either as it takes length and accuracy.  Keep your second shot in the fairway as it narrows closing down to the green.  If possible, try to lay up 125-100 yards out as this presents the easiest approach.  Try not to enjoy the view of Green Bay too much as you still have to challenge the three-tiered green.  Distance control is important to put your approach on the right level.  The green slopes from back to front, but each of the tiers slope to the water, so it will appear as though putts break uphill.
