I also suspect some players know or have learned how they can hang up the server - or cause it to go into spin mode - that creates this problem. - Especially, if the person makes mocking comments or appears to force the time out or spin cycle after hitting their shot... you have to wonder what is going on.
The only way, I have been able to catch or offset this - is by finding a second device or using PC EA to reinitiate the game - which breaks the spin cycle -- even if you are just seemingly spinning in search of an opponent - because it is clearly also happening when you can't see a match was made.
