  I think if a player rents a new club and buys it within the same 24hr period, that the rental fee should be deducted from the club price.

  You DO get 66% of your rental fee back if you purchase the item while the 10% discount after rental is avalible, which is better than 0%.  
  And if you plan it out and are prepared for when you level up you can rent a newly unlocked item for free and then buy it at a 10% discount.

  With all the reviews on the boards and players willing to help either out and give club recommendations, I don't think there's any reason to rent clubs. 
  
  The only time I ever rented clubs was during the free rental periods. And the main reason I did that was to get the discount when I then purchased the club. 
  
  I would save your credits and just ask others. But that's just me.
