Restarting the browser should help, so that the Flash components of the webpage get refreshed. This sometimes happens to me, too.
Mine stays green until you actually open the message. Just looking at the list won't turn it off. Click on the message.

Then clearing the Flash cache and browser cache should definitely help.
What happens when you visit WGT in a different browser? Is the green light still on? Have all PMs really been opened?
