    Or is it?

I know this site is free at this point, but what are the plans when it is released from Beta.

I'm hoping it will always remain free.

WGT's game is supposed to remain free forever, with basic equipment.

If you want to stay competitive it will really cost you though!

I don't know about that.I saw a guy in the COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT with an average of 57.something.I clicked on him and went to his profile. All he had in his bag that was NOT stanard issue was a LYNX driver everything else was WGT starter clubs ..I sit there scratching my head for awhile..He is either really, really good or he was taking it easy on some friends of his by using the starter stuff to give them a fair chance..Sorry I do not remember his name but if I ever find out I will let you know.

GITrDONE, there are some tourneys & game types (community-organized) that require you to play with the starter equipment, so just because someone's profile page was showing these at a specific time, doesn't mean the person doesn't own the entire collection of Master clubs.

That is true Faterson, but he can't use that LYNX driver along with the starter clubs can he? I wish I would of wrote his name down but it was like 2:00 am and I was fixing to log off...Oh well

He can; for a practice round, too. You can combine any clubs with any other clubs in this game. (With the exception of iron clubs that, unfortunately, cannot yet be used on a pick-and-choose basis, but you must select an entire iron set. If that hadn't been so, I'm sure the lake at Kiawah 17 would be full of thrown-away 7-irons by now!  )

PS: I'm currently waging an anti-starter set campaign here.

I hate to keep this going but it is interesting to me .I was speaking of  the afore mentioned "special tourneys" in which you had referenced.Wouldn't he have to play with the complete WGT starter set if that was indeed the case.

As for the Kiawah 17th,I'm quite sure in real life there are whole bags in the drink...

Hows the anti-starter set campaign working out?

    LMAO

Maybe yes, maybe not. Tournaments may have their special (and crazy) rules. In that discussion to which I posted the link, it's argued that only the driver and 3-wood should be replaced in a specified way during specified matches.

I'm on the losing side currently, but not giving up yet.    I loved playing in Coolswing's Starters tournament back in September, it was a nice one-off oddity, but that other thread deals with the format of a popular weekly tournament, and forcing players to use (in certain matches) the starter equipment instead of their usual equipment just doesn't seem right to me.

There is quite a difference between the two.I bought the Pro rapture irons a couple of days ago...After seeing the 57 average this morning I decided to go back and see why I switched in the first place...I have been knocking it around today with those old starter clubs (all but the drv.&put.) and am now inclined to go back to them ..maybe permenantly..I'm just starting out so no definite decesion can be made as of now.I will have to gather more data on the subject to help with my decision.

It will definitely be a challenge to switch back and forth between the two because there is alot of difference in the meter speed. My average as we speak is 71.18.I will go play a ranked round and we will see if the average comes down..With the old irons in play..I got the Redwood putter that I am not inclined to let go of..
