My avg this am was 61.0. Afterwards I played St Andrews at -10.  Tonight I sign on to play and my avg is now 62.1.  Anyone have an idea what happened??

Keep in mind that your average is based on the final scores for 18 holes, where 9 hole rounds are doubled to make an 18 hole score. How far below par you are isn't really factored in, just what the final score is. If you had a 61 average and posted a 62, or a 33 (which would be a 66), these scores would cause your average to go up.

On 3-18 your scores were 62, 33, 31.  Thus your average for these 36 holes was 63.  Average went up.

When you move up in tiers, your average score starts all over again.  It's my guess that this is what has happened, as your 62 (10 under) at St. Andrews 18 holes equals exactly a 62 average score.

According to his wall, he tiered up to Legend tier in August 2017. I think WGTShamWow pretty much explains it.

It has been explained - let me have another try...

    Which equals -11 on STA.

A 62, true. Was the score better than the average? Which change of your average do you expect from these numbers?

This is what happens to a linear average when you add higher values: It rises.

It's also safe to say that your average is not yet saturated (500 Legend rounds), meaning that you must play lots of regular ranked strokeplay to get to the next stage. Also, 32/64 and 33/66 scores won't help you much to arrive at 60.000 ave. or lower for the next tier.

Plenty of grinding before you - don't mind the average now, just have fun!

Good plan.  I may try that.

You didn't get screwed by WGT. Tex.  Your average is correct.

Just keep playing those red-tee tournaments that your CC is so fond of setting up, and I'm sure your average will go back down.
