Please, please, change that configuration at once!!! I m done with the 150ft meter when I am at only 20ft to the pin. Tired of losing shots for that basic mistake. Or you can give us the chance to fire the caddy!!! Thanks.

How difficult is it to read the surface name when a shot runs out?

Make it part of your shot preparation.

On PC, you can turn the caddy off in the options.  No effect on the green, however - that is up to you to pick the right meter and right power.

If you putt with the wrong meter, that is the same as putting the wrong power - i.e., a basic mistake - user error.  Check everything before you take a shot.

Yes, it can be frustrating. But alosso is correct. You simply need to develop a pre-shot routine and stick to it. Having a routine has saved me a number of times when I had the wrong club on an approach or wrong meter for a putt.

You simply have to adapt to the game because (on some of this stuff), it's not going to adapt to you.

We are all frustrated about some things but this one will not change, as is likely for most things people suggest!
