29 yd Flop shot

  Does anybody use the 29 yd flop shot.  I can see the uses for the 20 yd flop, but I think your full 50 or 60 yd wedge does a better job in most all situations than the 29 yd flop.  What say you!

  I use every shot.Both the 20 and 29 flops and also an assortment of the punch shots

  In regards to 29 distance, I would go for Punch. Punch has more control in my experience.

  Your 60 yard Cleveland wedge will have high trajectory and go 29 yards, and stop- if hit full shot/full backspin @ 62% (after all adjustments for wind/elevation and assuming fairway). Minor adjustments for rough/sand.

  I have to agree with Carl. I used to use both 20 and 29 yard flops quite a bit. But now it is almost always a punch with my 64 degree Cleveland. The punch is a lot easier to control, isn't affected by the wind as much, and you don't have to aim it well left of the hole or click way early to get the ball close. 

  The 64 degree Cleveland full backspin punch will hop and stop and get close. Both flops have their place but the punch is a much more effective shot. And used with Walk0flife's 50 punch spread sheet it is like a magic wand.

  a pitch shot is just as good as a  flop

  Agree, but I'm with those who go with the punch from that distance. Much easier to control the run out.

  Nup. Anywhere from 20-50 use a punch.

  Flop with a 60 wedge is useful in some situations, but can't compare to pitch, which will give you a much greater chance of holing out, or punch to get close out of typical flop range.

  So many players use flop, get close and reckon its a great shot. Well, balls to that. If you're within 20 yrds use pitch and hole it.
