I get emails from WGT occasionally telling me I won a bonus of some sort. The latest (today) tells me I won a Beer ball effect. So where is it? It's not already in my bag. It's not in my equipment.  I can buy it in the Pro Shop but that's not winning a bonus. So, where is the bonus Beer Effect WGT said I won?

You might not have that phrase in the US Opy but in the UK On the game refers to a way a person can earn money.  Being paid to perform certain acts........

    ; )

And they say American English is tough.  Write, right....deer, dear...you get the picture. But on the game has a meaning???

And then you guys have bonnet.  To you it's the hood of a car, here it's a womans(mostly big floppy) hat typically worn by ladies of the South or at the Kentucky Derby or other big events.(Indy 500 is another that comes to mind), they would not be caught dead there(this is another one of those words we have, their) without one. LMAO.

And lets don't get started with they're as another.  It can be written correctly, spoken, now that's another story for a different time.  Too many to list but you get the picture.

But, then again, this raises a question.  Is a bonnet only the hood, or is it the trunk lid also, or do you have a different name for that.

The trunk is the "boot."  My grandfather, who quit school after the 6th grade to work with his family as a sharecropper, also used boot instead of trunk.  As well as "Divan" instead of sofa or couch and "aerial" instead of antenna.  As strange as it may sound to the rest of the US, southern US speakers are often closer to their Queen's English roots.

    If I may:

A female on the game here in the UK may also - depending on the amount of coinage exchanged - be referred to as a boot.

    Nelly had a trunk.

    Ariel's a washing powder.

    Antenna was a lovely lady.

And lastly... divan's musical chimes would have one rushing for an ice cream as a kid.
