It isn't always possible to get a putt anywhere close to the hole from all locations on unusual shaped greens or with extreme slopes on the greens.

I've recently seen players have success with hitting pitches (or some kind of non-putts) from the green that got much closer than a putt could have.

I've not been able to achieve that with anything approaching consistency.

Any tips for even semi-consistent results with non putts from the green?

Use "full" (not "pitch", "punch", "flop" or "chip"). Use your shortest wedge (typically 64*). Figure a full shot will go half the rated distance (so if your 64* is rated for 50 yards, using it on the green it'll go about 25 yards).  Play around with it in practice mode and adjust from there.  But this will get you started.

Go and practice it and you will find it's your go to shot.

If I ding my pitch, I'm usually 0-1 Yard away. Under 8 Yards, I chip.

There are a lot of things to take into account, like balls, equip and conditions etc.

I don't know if it's still accurate w/ the changes.

I have found that one of the factors I often forget is the lie. If you're in 30-40% rough the spin on your ball isn't going to hold, no matter which clubs or balls you are using.

That would definitely be a tough green.

And I thought Kiawah greens were bad! :-)

    LOL

My mistake. I thought we were discussing chipping ON TO the green, not chipping while ON the green.
