    mefitz:

@PugsAce- Yes, it comes with the uninstall...  GL

    Missed your reply...

Thanks mefitz for the explanations... I've since disabled BOTH the putting grid AND the background loading and haven't had any further problems <crossing fingers>, so I've decided to wait to install the booster app.until such time that I again may need to try it. Just trying to keep my 'puter 'uncluttered' for the time-being...

    Johniedino:

WELL I JUST WANT TO THANK YOU WGT FOR YOUR LOUSY PERFORMING,

HERKY,JERKY, STOP, STARTING LOUSY ASS METER.

YOU WOULD PROBABLY GET MORE PEOPLE TO UPGRADE TO BETTER CLUBS

IF YOU WOULD STOP BLAMING OUR COMPUTERS AND ADDRESS THE PROBLEM.

It is your computer, because my meter works well, if everybody had this problem, it would be addressed. it is you who either has a lousy connection, or lousy computer

Right, it's our computers.  That's why you find this many search results on lagged swing meters.

Here is a more precise breakdown of the issue.  It is one that has always needed, and continues to need, addressing.  One should not have to install 3rd party software and close every running service on their computer to play a simple Flash game.

Still not convinced?  Have a look at your resource monitor and see how much of your RAM and CPU are being used during gameplay.  Close out WGT, and then go play one of the 10000 other Flash based games out there, do the same observation, and then decide if it's really "our computers" that are "lousy".

Tibbets, I do agree that WGT is a resource hog, more than it needs to be. I don't really think this is just "a simple Flash game" however. Yes it will run on a netbook, but I don't exspect it do so smoothly. Nor do I think you need some monster gaming machine to run this.

I just played 36 holes, 100% glitch free on my desktop. (psj-gs04 server btw) This is not unusal, any glictches or lag are rare.

On my laptop, totally different story. I have to run gamebooster to even come close to the game being playable.

The two machines have similar specs. pentium dual core processors (defintly not top of the line) 2GB RAM on the desktop, 1GB on the laptop. (quite enough in either case)

In game, cpu usage is about 15-20% on the desktop. 80-90% on the laptop

The main difference between the two machines is that the OS is complely streamlined on the desktop. (Optimized for digital audio editing, but that's not really the point) And the laptop OS is a big old mess of processes,(gamebooster dosen't shutdown absolutly everything)

For sure, there are problems with this game that go beyond the users machine. I am convinced, from my experiences with this game on numerous machines, that most of the complaits about the 'horrible' meter are due to the users setup... or rather that they could be mostly alleviated by some optimization.

But yes, the game is a resource hog. I wish it would run perfectly on my laptop, but I'm not surprised that it dosen't.

WGT may as well bundle "GameBooster" with this game.

It's a sad state of affairs where to run a software package acceptably, one must install and run a software package from another company (or be highly proficient in Windows).

How anyone can find this acceptable is beyond my comprehension.

Its not the computer... I have a brand new computer with an incredible processor and I have the delayed meter all the time.

It always seems to happen when I have a great round going too! I will be 2 or 3 under through 7 and "Boom" power meter delays and shoots the ball OB. Absolutely frustrating.

Another frustrating aspect of the power meter is sometimes if you miss perfect by a millimeter that ball pushes or pulls 10 yards offline. There is no consistency with this power meter... None at all

let me be clear about my position in this discussion.

The problem is your computer - mostly

Should wgt be doing everything it can to optimize this game so that it performs better on your computer - absolutely!

Tibbets and others have made some very specific posts that could be helpful in making the situation better.

"This game sux! fix it!" type posts get us nowhere.
