Someone actually stated that participation is down in excess of 40%
"Someone" is clearly full of it! All one has to do to see this is look at the point totals. While the scores of the "top" clubs has been fairly stagnant, that certainly isn't the case farther down the list. A score that would've cracked the top 50 twenty clashes ago wouldn't even yield a top 100 result in the latest one. I'm not endorsing the clash in any way, just sayin'.......

Seems like that 40% number may not be too far off.  Put these comments togeather, with the others in these threads, and it may not total 40 %, but it's sure alot less people and clubs playing. Which is a down trend in revenue for wgt.

Here is what happened . A couple months ago there were a couple CLASHes in a row that had the hard courses , impossible conditions , off the wall green speeds .

It pissed everyone off . Even hard core CLASH lovers . For a minute . Since then . It seems that they heard us loud and clear . Yes I said that . Because the last two CLASHes have had moderate courses . handleable conditions , and playable green speeds .

This CLASH # 64 has some of the highest paticipation yet . Twice as many good CC's playing twice as hard . Than in CLASH # 63 . .

There is never more than 1 CLASH in a row that suffers from a little lower turnout .

Most top clubs have expressed that they will pull from clashes and over the past year or so a lot of the top clubs have done just that.

None of the top clubs, at least "top" in competitive and player quality sense, have ever played them in any half serious way.

This is complete crap . Many top and decent CC's play in these CLASHes . And every CC has " top " in competitive and player quality sense players in them . Some of the best in WGT play in these .

Some of the best in WGT don't play in these .

Who ever says that more top CC's have said they were going to pull themselves from the CLASHes in the last year . Just made that up .

Originally there were some CC's that did not participate . In time more and more of them have slowly entered in the mix .

This CLASH format is not like anything else you can play anywhere . It is obviously not a skills event .

But amongst many other things . it is the only event that you can play your ass off for 48 hours . and get GR8 satisfaction from in many ways . Without winning a god damn thing .

Which is no dispute of the biggest major flaws of this event . And the lack of parity , etc , etc .

But hell yes we all think it needs some changes . Big ones . But it has its hooks in us .

This event is not losing participation . it is gaining . That is going to continue .

Some how some way . Admin has to agree to making some adjustments . Because the fighting amongst the ranks is a serious problem that they cannot afford to ignore . Especially with the real possibilty that growth could be enormous .

Prizes and parity are out of control They must be addressed .

Sorry to tell you haters . But there is only a small handful,of you left . We hear you loud and clear . You have some valid points about some things that are flawed in the format .

But where you guys come up with your numbers and stats . Is very comical and entertaining . Desparation is a funny thing sometimes . It makes for some good threads .

Don't know why you have to accuse anyone of being a hater, you just verified what I was repeating.  Matters not if participation was down, 15,30, or 40%, fact is it was down enough that it got someone's attention.  Last clash, my club played only 6 times, and so far this clash we have played clubs that have only played 2 or 3 times thus far.  Doesn't that show someone that participation is down?  This may not be affecting the no. 1 club, but think about it, they are only a few in comparison to all that's out there  All that being said, I'm not a hater, but a realist, that's all.

A quick note, I just looked and the club we are up against right now, has only played once before us.  There is only a little over 10 and a half hours left in this clash.  Can you explain it?

Ding, dong - absolutely Sir! No rhyme nor reason - just a damn good blast for 48 hours. Could be setup better in terms of matching clubs or better prizes...but what the heck, just a good blow out for some from our club.

They get quieter and quieter, and so they should. Each to their own.

No biggie folks - just a bit of respect for other people's reasons for playing the Clashes.

    Gary.

In my club, players want to play the clashes. I have no problem with that and will help them, even though I hate the Clashes.

My problem with them right now, is that as a Level 9 club with 149 players gets matched up against the Very Good Amigos 4 times. Great club, but we have no chance against a L-19 Club with 246 members. Congrat's to them.

We played (At that time) the #20, #3, #27,#36,#40 and #46 clubs. I can see the 36th -40th clubs and I didn't see another very club on the leaderboard.

We finished 47th even though we won only 3. I would just like them to match up better. We had 1 club that was not in the top 100

      We finished 8 - 3 at 32nd place .

Your Country Club is in a clash...

Valley of the Sun Casual Club vs. The Georgian
Your Country Club clash has ended, here are the final results...
    The Georgian - 25059 points
Valley of the Sun Casual Club - 2662 points

Yes it is very frustrating . But even if WGT could adjust the automatic tournament selector to not be so random . It would still not know if there were 30 CLASHers in a 250 CC or if all 250 players were CLASHers . The Level # is not a good guide either .

They should be able to eliminate all the double , triple , quadruple repeat selections .

But  I think that WGT's technology is already maxed out . Until they are willing to modernize . We get what they got . With all the detail and specifics that would be necessary to improve . They would need new equipment .

      I don't see that happening .

That is not the criteria for positioning - it's but points.

The fact that there are no detailled results - starting with the win/loss record - are available once the Events are finished is yet another proof that it's not about "CC vs. CC".

Also, the CC level or member no. is irrelevant to the results - it only depends on the no. of rounds played, thus indirectly on the no. of players in action.

Thus, it's irrelevant which CC you play against. It's only relevant that you play, over and over again, to amass points and benefits to the organisers.

Uh Paul . I just said all that . Lol .

I have been paying attention to this mayhem since day 1 . And have every CLASH recorded in my website . And in it is many examples of every wrong way to win those . And many examples of every wrong way to lose them .

the obvious and predictable and pathetic hosts .  Hit the ultimate  peak of create without foresight . When they sprung that one on us .

But in our infinite ability to make something out of nothing . The WGT universe Took what was being doled out randomly in every event . And found ways to make it interesting . And workable . and fun . Excuseable , reuseable , and justifiable . In a way the fact that it is so reliably unpredictable . Helps in its success .

And every time the addicting , balls to the wall multi mega round format . is a big hit for thousands and thousands . With out fail .
