Drove the 180+ miles each way to play this one today for $12 including cart, ice chest, two 17 oz. bottles of water and a towel for each player. I found the deal through GolfNow. Normal prices range from $45 to $73. I couldn't resist the extra drive since I'm driving a Prius and I've wanted to play at Primm for years. I wasn't going to let a little heat deter me. 95*F when we teed off and pushing 110*F when we finished but it honestly didn't feel that hot.

These are the courses tied in with the Whiskey Pete's and Primm casinos at State Line.. Due to the nature of their business the hospitality is tremendous and they keep the courses in very good shape. When I pulled up this morning I was met at the car by a cart girl who made sure the cart was well equipped with water and ice, loaded the clubs and made sure we were escorted to driving range (free golf balls on the range!), the practice green, chipping practice area and the correct first tee (they have two courses).

These are very nice resort courses with some water, lots of waste areas that are very penalizing and very challenging bunkers. Most of the bunkers have deep lips and at this time of the year suffer from the problem almost every desert course has... The sand is very hard due to the heat.

The greens roll excellently. They are receptive to incoming shots but they are not soft. They have a lot of slope to them, much more than appears to the eye. It took a while to figure them out.

As is typical of casino courses, amenities are expensive. A  20 oz. Diet Coke from the beer cart was $3.00. The bar & grill onsite is pricey, too, but the quality and flavor is very good.

Primm is absolutely a good place to play.

It didn't even occur to me. Sorry.

There are a few nice pictures at their website, though.

I just checked their website...wow, what a beautiful course. You honestly got to play there for $12? That's incredible!

Was the price so low because you booked through golfnow.com(?)? I don't know what that is, but I'm heading there right now to check it out.

Golfnow.com apparently lets courses give them a couple of tee times daily in lieu of paying to have their courses listed there. Golfnow calls them "Hot Deals". Some courses use the first tee times of the day (6 am and such) but most courses, especially those in the hot desert let them mark down times in the 10:30 am to 1:30 pm range. We teed off yesterday at 9:30 and beat the worst of the heat. The added advantage is that hardly anyone plays in the desert heat. We get our own private courses with no one else around to push us or hit us from another fairway.

Those pictures on the Primm Valley website are obviously in the winter or spring. At this time of the year  it's a little thinner and browner but it's still a great place and in good shape. Actually, including service fees, it was closer to $16 each.

    That's a fact.

I have 3 courses near me, that are of the same club.  If I want to play one, two, or three of them, on the same day.  After paying at the first one I can play the other or two on the same day for just a cart fee, and it is around that number.

Been many a time have played 36, either at the same or at 2 different and only payed the fee of 18.  If I remember right the cart fee is half the round rate.

These courses are around 30 if not under for 18.  At least the last time I played, but then again, its been a year of so since that happened.

And no, I am not a member.  They only pay a cart fee to play.

You know the heat out there will trick you . People dont realize that desert heat is very dry so you dont sweat because the dry climate absorbs the moisture . It doesnt take long for a heat stroke to set in . I lived out there for a few years back from 05 - 08 and the climate was the only thing that I didnt like . Loved the food used to get the best prime rib at Jerrys Nugget casino . Its just inside North Las Vegas on the strip .

I never thought about that...our courses out here on the East coast look that way in the Summer and Fall.

It still looks like a great place to play.

Thanks for the "Hot Deals" heads-up on Golfnow.

You're welcome. They also have a rewards program for free that is worthwhile. Every so many bookings you get a credit; I've been combining credits to get free rounds by using them to book more Hot Deals.
