We quite enjoy playing the clashes in my club - we are not yet at the stage where we can offer other clubs a match up, so this is the nearest we get to it. And there is no need or requirement to buy passes.
However, I do have one point (gripe) about them. It would appear that 'some' clubs get to play the par 5s several times during the event but we humble plebs get RSG and the Par 3s, both with high winds.
Now, I have been playing for long enough to know that a decent player can birdie most of the holes on the par 5s without too much effort - so they have a potential clash points score of 216 using a superpass whilst we struggle to make 140 with RSG and the Par 3s - also using a superpass. This, to me, is grossly unfair and every club in the clash should get the same course(s) in rotation.
Of course, the opposition in each clash get exactly the same course - but I am talking about the overall points score - 5 clashes played on the Par 5s is more than 350 additional points over the other clubs (and that is just for one player) - not exactly a level playing field.
