I am both a data guy and a golfer.  I find it quite interesting when I see a massive shift in a trend, particularly when it relates to golf.

I recently uncovered a public data set on liquor license issuance.  I found it very interesting to note that liquor licenses seem to be up almost seven fold from the "peak Tiger" years for golf.

From 2005 - 2011, the average number of liquor licenses issued to establishments with "Golf" in the name averaged pretty close to 200.  In 2012, that number doubled to just over 400.  In 2013 and 2014, it exploded to nearly 1,400 (and 2014 isn't over yet).
    What Gives?
Is golf getting so bad that it is driving people to drink?  Are more establishments adding liquor sales to bolster their bottom line?   What is your opinion?  Share a comment.

don't know what your sources are but if it that is case then i would hazard a guess that people are relaxing and enjoying themselves more.  Not feeling the pressure to perform to perfection, as tiger expected he should, makes the game much more relaxed and friendly.

Maybe many who love to be around golf find it is cheaper to drink and simply watch others play.
