The swing meter problem will never be fixable so long as WGT insists on doing it in "real-time" over the Internet. Waaaay too many variables and interferences there, and one player's connection is invariably going to be better/worse than an opponent's. Unfair advantage to the high dollar connection.
What is baffling is that WGT hasn't hit upon the relatively simple to program idea of offering a downloadable swing meter module. Stands to reason that a swing meter running on one's own CPU would run dependably smooth.
Upon the hit click, it transmits the data of backswing and contact relative to the ding to the WGT server, which then applies the variables for club selection and ball spin along with the physical variables such as wind, elevation, etc., as it has been doing all along. Maybe a noticeable millisecond of delay between the send and the avatar moving, but big deal. No more meter palsy.
I'm running on a pretty schizo connection and am about fed up with the meter skips. And yes, I'm using a game booster, an empty start menu, the game in the only browser window, all the tricks, and am still getting meter-whupped. Gets tiresome trying real hard and having a lag or hiccup in the Internet trash your efforts.
This problem is fixable, but no amount of tweaking is going to iron out the quirkiness of the Internet. You're bandaging the wrong wound, Yossarian.
A real-time swing meter is simply not a viable system, unless of course all players are one hop from the Internet backbone on a fiber optic line as big as your leg.
