1650 - William III of Orange <> House of Stuart <> King of England

William III and Mary II came to power in the Glorious Revolution, a bloodless Protestant coup against the determinedly Catholic James II; their accession as co-rulers ensured that England would remain a protestant nation. Though Mary was much loved, William who functioned as ruler before and after Mary's death, lacked personal charm and met with a great deal of criticism. Regardless, the two of them ensured stability and continuity at a crucial time.

As most of you know, Glen Frey was/is in the US Rock band, "The Eagles".  Well, this GOP and I had a little debate going, which could be a bit of fun for those that read the birthday thread.

Don't take this wrong anyone ... I am of the opinion that "The Beatles" can't hold a candle to "The Eagles".  That's just my opinion.  The Beatles were an okay group ... probably would have been better if I lived through the 60's.  The Eagles, however, simply kicked butt.

I went through the 80 Gb of tunes I have stored on my flash drives, ipod and phone and found 5 Beatles tunes.  After I got to 20, I stopped counting the Eagles tunes I listen to.

So ... GOP ... the debate continues.  Who's the better band?  The Eagles ...

    or The Beatles ...

Chime in, professor ... if you dare!  (lol)

oh yeah ... Glen Frey ... here's a really obscure video I found (and I happen to love this old tune!) ...

Talent wise or their hit songs? The Beatles have influenced a lot of groups that came after them.

    DaddysKat:

I did and listened to a lot of Beatles back then. Were they my favorite group ... not really.

The Eagles came out when I was graduating high school in the 70's and listened to them  a lot then too.

So better is hard for me to answer ... like choosing between friends. I really enjoy listening to both their music today.

    Can I ask which ones?
