First let me say that I understand the need to change and the many people who voiced their opinion supporting the change.  I also supported a change in the tiers but our visions are way off as compared to yours.  I expected new tiers in which those in that new tier would compete against only those similar skilled players in the tier.  SUCCESS !!! well done.

What I didn't expect, and many others here, is that with the new tiers you would increase the difficulty level without providing equipment to support it.  Now, having said that I also realize that it is a little unrealistic to have routine scores in the 50's and the latest upgrade will help address that.  But what it did to a majority of players was put them in playing conditions they do not have the equipment to support.  Example:  A pro yesterday was playing with Pro equipment, in some cases the best they could purchase, but today that same Pro player is expected to play off what was formally Master tees without the benefit of having appropriate equipment to do so.  As for me, I went from a Master to Tour Master and you know what, that's OK.  I'll accept the challenge and move on.  But for many, many players you have put the game far out of their reach.

Pros using Pro equipment and playing what was formally Master conditions is not only difficult, in some cases it is ridiculous.  Reminds me of the days I couldn't get on some fairways using a driver because the distance far exceeded that of the clubs capabilities.

Increasing the difficulty with the establishment of new tiers was not required - isolation of tiers was possible without changing anything else.  I am sure many players are going to quit playing because of this.

You're bang on Ice. I really feel for the players in new tiers who can not buy new equipment.

I can use myself as an example. For the past few weeks I was thinking about buying the new R9 Driver. A few players suggested to me holding off my purchase to see what new equipment/prices there may be with the update.

I consider myself lucky because I already have all  the clubs I need. Ones that I've purchased and upgraded over the last year, so I can live without another driver. Incidentally; if I wanted to buy it today, I'll have to go up another 57 levels??

I predict WGT will be forced to lower the levels required to unlock clubs, once they see their sales of new equipment decline as a result of these unrealistic levels.

I'm sure many pros and masters can point out whats its going to take them to upgrade.

For those who started at level 30. How many points do you need to advance to the next level? What's the gap between 30 and 31?

From 20 to 21 it's a nudge over 400, but it seems to increase a little with time. Maybe levelling up isn't as time-consuming as we first fear. I went up two levels yesterday, and didn't play an aweful lot.

To go from 30 to 31 is about 1000, but then it gets higher from 31 to 32 is around 1500

1500. When the levels came out I was at 10,000. Hover over your level to see.

Oh dear oh dear  - Lets  hope  WGT have sobered up after the lunacy imposed upon their own innocent clientelle and that they look at the devistation that the "forward thinking" changes have created

    The Pros Woes

    Lets do some simple math

Assuming on the 31st August you were a pro (old tiers) and now  have been forcefully upgraded to the new master tier. (1st Sept)   Your new current "level" is 30   You will now require  the equipment (because of  the extra distance) that was readily available  when moving up a tier and wanted to purchase the R9 driver (example)  This  could have been done when "earning that master status" . - Not any more after the forcing of  the new promotion.

So now  you have to try and "earn" that driver by raising your "level" experience  and  you now need to reach level 77 to obtain the driver (that you need to make up for the distance differentials caused by the raise in tier).   How long and how much will you have to spend to achieve this?

    Lets make this really simple.

Lets say on average you will recieve 100 level points  per completed round (this is approx based on 5 test games).  In 10 rounds you will have reached level 31,  So to get to level 77  you will need to complete 470 rounds ( quite a while,  unless you are constantly at the computer) In fact some players  over a year !   Now  lets look at how much this is going to cost you (assuming you are NOT going to lose any balls!!!)

You decide you need a ball that will travel the furthest distance  to make up for the lack of distance your existing clubs perfom from the newly arrived back tees.  So you opt for the GI SD @ 112 credits a sleeve.   You will get approx  1 and a half rounds completed with these balls.  so  it is going to take you approx. 352 rounds  to get to level 77    = approx 109 sleeves of balls @ 112 credits  = $122.08

    (opt for tour sd $70.85)

So  for $122.08 (above example)  you can now purchase the driver  that you would have been able  to purchase  2 days ago when you reached the master tier (without being forced)

As it stands  newly promoted Pros with restricted clubs are at a stage where on many holes  they simply cannot reach some fairways with  clubs that were "tiered" at or below the pro previous purchasing levels  There was NO indication during the "clearance sale" that pros would be put into a situation wheras they would be penalised because they didn't achieve master status under their own steam.  Even the best clairvoyant wouldn't have been able  to forsee the problem to buy the neccessary equipment for a "forced" change in tier, simply  because the equipment was never an option to buy from that tier.

Surely it makes practical business sense to allow any newly "forced" pro the opportunity to purchase the required equipment to allow them to compete competitively

You could open up this money spinning revenue offer for a limited period. solely for those that this unfair change has affected. You can lock the remainder of options AFTER they have selected their one-off choice This allows them a chance to be able  to purchase One club set within their new "tier" range.  .Not only does it bring in instant revenue  it also keeps them in the game, rather than leaving it for good.

This new "level" has been  ill-thought and requires immediate attention on bringing the "reality" back into virtuality. Give those "improving" virtual golfers the incentive to stick around, rather than lose them because they cannot improve any longer

PS  I am not a pro that was promoted to a master, and I already have the required clubs  I need to progress. But I can see a major flaw  in this ridiculous situation.

You have put the newly promoted pros  in a no win scenario for a very long period of time to actually achieve their goal of being able  to compete competitively against each other.  ( some pros  will have better equipment than others (bought before lockout) - whereas  the ones that don't have NO option to be on that  playing field anymore)

Ouch. Could be it takes a long time afterall then. Was hoping the increase between each level was less. Probably many many thousand points each level when you get high. Maybe 10s of thousands.

Certainly gives us all something to shoot for, but it's terrible for especially Pros turned Masters overnight as they won't have the equipment they need and can't buy it either.

Tiering up could actually be even more detrimental now, which can increase the rewards of sandbagging.

This is the only thing that makes sense of what WGT did. Where before that club was a consideration to buy,  now it's a necessity and if they do as you suggested and open sales for a short while there will be a stampede at the pro shop and armored cars waiting to carry the bundles of cash back to San Francisco.

Hmmm, said that way do you suppose this was actually thought out by someone there?

I've been playing for 2 weeks, just went from pro to master a couple days ago, now I'm set at Tour master....problem is, after reading the new "product realeses" coming I decided I would hold off on buying the R9 driver and take a peek at what new clubs there were going to be....none, and now I'm screwed. I'm playing with Pro clubs, playing 525 yard par 4s where driver +3 wood leaves you 30 yds short of the green. At least give me the opportunity to purchase the required equipment to compete at my new absurd level.

Beautifully put. I don't see any point in me doing match play now as I can't compete, I'll be better off playing solo on self started country club events for the next year or so.
