claremoreblue drove a ball 285 yrds with the new driver, i viewed his replay many times. now in the matter of a day his replay mysteriously changed. it only shows a 227 yard drive. the ball hit the staircase in right side bunker on #1 hole then careened to the front right bunker by the green, for a total of 285. why has his replay been altered, something stinks here?.

this happens quite a bit if you been paying attention. in fact, the game physics just changed again. there is no longer a harsh movement if u miss perfect hit. so, that means, his original 285 yard drive wasn't perfect and veered right and hit the stairs...now that it's compensated againts, the replay is fixed.

remember, the replay is not a VIDEO of the shot, it's merely DATA points on the MAP (with correspond to certain values. for example if hit = perfect, then deviation = 0. before it was say if perfect hit +2 (ie past perf hit) then deviation maybe +20, now maybe its only +5 (so the ball didnt move that harshly left or right)), if map changes and data points remain the same and the deviation values also change, all you have left is a completely different shot,

i just checked this replay also...

btw, i THEORIZED that it's possible to hit a very long drive on #1 without hiting the middle yard marker, i have hit steps before, but never at the right angle. i am glad to be proven right!

the video u saw was not the actual shot. totally different, most def a fluke shot but nonetheless it did happen. the ball landen right on the edge of deep rough and sand and quickly shot forward, i just assumed it hit the stairs by the way it reacted. it just hit the edge and slinged forward.his replay showed exactly that. what u see now is totally diff then the one he saved. the yardage meter on upper right corner stated 285.

also u state that the replay was fixed because it wasnt perfect verifies that the shot did happen. the stairs part was just a guess by me as to why the ball veered so strangely. the replay u checked was not the one he saved.probably fixed overnight.

Yeah, the replay isn't really a replay.

Like icon said, it just saves all your variables per shot and forces a computer golfer to duplicate them exactly.  If you change the conditions under which the initial variables were recorded (such as the mis-hit fix), you will change the result of the shot and thus have a completely different result.

It's the same reason we had to delete our replays when they changed the green contours a while back.  The hit variables remained the same but, the green itself changed and thus changed the end result.

If they aren't really replays and physics and mechanical changes alter the outcome of the replays, then why even have them in the first place?

It's still nice to have them to show off, even if you can't keep them forever yet.  Things won't change much after we exit the beta phase.  Such is the nature of the beast right now.

Sort of "on topic"... does anybody know what would happen if I have a replay posted in the forum, then remove it from my replays on my profile page?

Are the one's I've posted links to, in the forum (or anywhere else) doomed to remain in my profile, lest they become "broken links", or will the computer game AI play them even if I delete them?

If this is the case: If I want to save ALL my replays, could I just "favorite them" in my browser's favorites, so I'd always have access to the links?

    Thanks.

Also, sort of on topic. I made a double eagle on Kiwah Island #11, but now it stops about an inch short. I got mad and deleted the replay.
