... really nothing to suggest or anything, just something I found interesting. Playing in today's Kia 18 RG (with high winds) I encountered a strong headwind on 14 of the 18 holes - including all par 5's.  I realize the wind is randomly generated, I just found it interesting since I had no chance of reaching any of the par 5's in 2; though in some instances the headwinds helped. Just an interesting occurrence that could not happen in real life :)

You should have a chance as I have found the wind only effects you 'sometimes' you just have to hope it will be the time you want it to.

I have been playing with a 19mph crosswind and sometimes it will effect the ball and the same speed and direction on another hole not..

    Great Realism Aye?

I'm with Alexis. The inconsistency of the wind drives me crazy. My first and second shots on one hole at BPB were shortened considerably by an 11 mph headwind. My 3rd shot was towards the green and neither the wind nor the raised green had any effect on my shot and I ended up just in the rough on the backside. What gives?

I agree totally. I have found the same thing.

I could understand wind differences on courses sheltered by tall trees and such, but not a wide open pasture like St. Andrews.

The other thing I have noticed is not only does the wind no play consistently, it sometimes plays opposite. A 15 mph cross wind, struck perfectly, and the ball actually travels against the wind and curves into it.

Further, I find the wind having more effect on low playing woods than high lofted clubs. Isn't that opposite of actual golf?

In my experience with the wind (I have been here a year) I have learned that there DOES seem to be a "random" factor built in with the wind.

I have referred to this with a sentence "Sometimes it seems the wind doesn't matter".

You will see other members referrring to wind variances as "The Beast".

In short - MOST of the time the wind will behave as you expect and adjust for BUT NOT ALWAYS.  I personally chalk this up to what might happen in real life where a strong wind may suddenly die off OR gust stronger just as you hit the ball.

There is an interesting "swirling" effect to the wind evident (this is MY interpretation) most notably evident on BPB # 8 where you are hittng from an elevated tee to a green considerably lower.  An 8 MPH crosswind can behave differently here on different days.  Throw in a change in the pin position and all bets are off.  This hole is also curious as  the usual wisdom with regard to a change in elevation seems to NOT apply - this one seems to play pretty much the measured distance.  A mistake or bug?  Not as I interpret it - the big difference seems to lie in the fact that we are LANDING on an upward sloped (AWAY from the tee) green.  As this upward slope is fairly pronounced, it tends to kill any bounce and roll...MOST of the time - watch how you spin it!

Yes, wind direction/speed is shuffled at the moment when you start your round, so as the Wind Direction Jitter and Wind Speed Jitter. And it's official.
