Earlier today I started a thread that contained several suggestions and some constructive input from a variety of users. The end of it turned in to an argument between me and another user, where we both posted our desire to have someone at WGT address the situation between us. That thread has now disappeared, even though it contained several useful suggestions.

Is it possible for you to remove the argumentative posts and reactivate the thread so that the suggestions can be addressed and seen for other users to comment on? I'd hate to see the suggestions get lost in the heat of the moment, and am afraid that if I post them again the same poster will disrupt a new thread causing it to get deleted once again.

The most important suggestion I would like to see carried through to the suggestion list is a possible option for an 'ignore' option where each user can choose to not display posts of users that they find counterproductive. This thread showed the importance of that option. It certainly would not replace the task of the moderators, but would absolutely minimize the distracting posts.  There were also other suggestions on that thread which should be considered for future upgrades.

I did post a response in your thread and do apologize if it was offensive in any way.You did reply and state that it was not.We have just had a lot of multi accounters in and out in the past few days.I'm sorry for the misunderstanding and I will just do like you suggested and use the "ignore" option when it becomes available.I don't really know what that option means or how it's used but it sounds like a good idea.I'm sure quite a few would love to ignore some of my post.lol If not all.Sorry for the bad start and welcome to the WGT.

    Merry Christmas,

What does everyone think about a forum for each of the different tiers everyone is in.

A forum for master's, a forum for pro's and so on. Maybe make it optional.

    Good idea or bad idea?

    Merry Christmas.

    Richard4168:
    Good idea or bad idea?

To me it's a little of both,Richard. While it might make each tier feel more at home in they're own forum, it could also make some feel excluded from the rest of the community.

When I joined I figured that the pros and masters might not want to associate with such a low level player but came to find find out, almost immediately that they were more than happy to help a new member.I would still be in the amateur tier if it weren't for they're help with the game. They tried they're best to warn me about artificially lowering my score just to advance through the tiers but I wouldn't listen.I believe that it only takes a new member a couple of visits to see that the forums are for all walks of life and everyone is welcome.

The option idea might be  good but they would actually be hurting themselves by missing out on some very helpful conversations that take place between the Pros and Masters.Thats a very good question you have asked I will say that.I would like to see some other responses to this before I comment any further. My opinion has been stated so need to over do it.

    Merry Christmas Everyone,

    Larry

That would be a great idea, then I wouldn't have to read a certain persons 50 posts a day! :))

    Great feedback GIT.

Weigh in on this everyone. I would like to see what the veterans think, as well as WGT.

    Merry Christmas all.

GITrDONE (Great userID, by the way)

I have no idea if an an ignore feature will even be considered, much less implemented, but have seen it used in other venues and it can be a very useful tool. I too have all too much experience with disruptive posters and those who post for no reason but to invoke a response, regardless of how they need to act in order to get it.

The ignore feature allows any user to hide any other user, where you no longer see their posts. If programmed accordingly, it also allows one to view members currently on that list, and 'undo' the action if warranted.

It is a more constructive method of dealing with them than it is to respond, attack and argue, as that is exactly what they are searching for. It is nice that non-admin members try to confront this situation, but does no more than make the problem worse. I've seen it thousands of times, and I can tell you from experience that once a feature like that is added, it tends to leave those attention seeking patrons huddled in a mass by themselves, and actually helps making identification of abuse a little less challenging.

Enough, I am now bounding off of my soapbox, and wish all of you who are celebrating accordingly a wondrous Holiday season and a prosperous New Year.

    WGTadmin2,

Thanks for noting that, and if you are unable to replace that thread, could you go back and scan it for the other suggestion that were made, please, and add a reminder here to open them back up for discussion?

I know there was one more in there, but I'll be darned if I can remember what it was.

    Thanks much

    Richard4168,

If you are looking for opinions, I'd like to offer one. I would be against that for some of the same reasons the GITrDONE mentioned, mainly that you would in essence be taking a lot of worthwhile information away from lower tier players, if they were unable to see the posts of higher tier members. I am not all to interested in a players rank or status, but am interested in allowing access to as many members as possible when I'd like to get something answered.

I would be all in favor of allowing members to create 'private' forums, where others can only see or post to them based on an invitation from the creator. That would allow private exchanges to take place, without segregating the community, and still allow higher level players to address the needs and questions of lower level players.

    Food for thought
