The only thing wrong with the video on reading lies is that it doesn't explain what "15 - 20% lie" or "40 - 45% lie" means. Does this mean I have to add 15 - 20% more power to my stroke? I've duffed a few shots from the rough about three feet from the green, and still been in the rough - grrrrr!

Yeah, a "15-20% lie" means it's 15-20% worse than usual.

As you rightly say, this is ambiguous and could just as well have been meant the other way around: that a "15-20% lie" would be 80-85% worse than usual. (This is, in fact, how TWO indicates lies. So a "15-20% lie" in WGT corresponds to a "80-85% lie" in TWO.)

The way I have used the lie info is that the 15 to 20 % means that % of the ball is below the level of the grass. The 40 to 50 % means the half of the ball is below the level of grass.

I may be wrong in thinking that way but it works for me. If i am in the 40 to 50 % lie around the green I rely on my lwdg at full power and the add 10yds to distance on my back swing and let er rip. 5 yds if in the 10 to 20%.

You're exactly right, Johnie. It refers to the percentage of the ball buried. I have found that 10-20% rough doesn't have much affect on the shot, 30-40 I add a club and 40-50 I add 1 1/2 clubs. I'm sure there's better ways to do it but this works for me.

I guess you've said it all fellas. I'm used to playing UTour and the technique is totally different. Off to the practice sessions for me now. Thanks all.
