He's right Jim. You will always show yourself as available on your own profile despite what you have it set to on your friends list. Like right now I'm set to No One, but if I look at my own profile, it'll show me as available. If anyone else looks at my profile, it'll show me as Offline.
In essence, you are always available to yourself.
