ES-I think now that Alex has poked her head in it might be more effective if this thread turned into a bunch of positive pages in the next few hours/days. I think if a few things were defined here regarding etiquette it might help. Feel free one and all to chip in with what you think doesn't belong or needs definition.

By example, Naughty1-your response-  to me it was saner than any of the other posts you made  simply because you wrote in in plain type. Every time I see bold, underlined stuff I tend to treat it as emphasis. Entire missives written  this way indicate to me a lack of decorum. You don't have to shout to be heard here. Have your opinion, just tone it down a bit and act like everybody else. Then, for weight, the occasional bold capital underline drives your point home.

You and snaike have been going at it since your first post where he thought you might be somebody else from the past with a new identity. You get to be the water and we'll let snaike be the oil (oiy!) and we all know what those two liquids do. Leave it there.

Being right is not so important that you have to hammer away at something to prove it. Calling out inflammatory remarks shouldn't have to happen. We should recognize them and act accordingly. Responding to flaming comments is no better than making them. Don't respond and it goes away.

I like using the smilies when I think I might be taken wrong. "LOL" in communications helps keep the reader from going down the wrong idea path. Whatever works for you use it to let the reader know you're not a flaming jerk. JMO and IMHO work real well to indicate you're not attacking, just voicing your opinion. Give it a try.

I completely agree with you YJ. The forums here should be a positive experience, and if I went a bit flamey myself in those last 2 posts, then I say sorry. Didn't mean to,and I now know that I might have gone a bit too far.

As for forum etiquette, I personally think that is hard to define. What one might see as a 'joke', another might see as an 'insult'. It's all about people's personal opinions.

I also agree with everything else you said there YJ. Responding to flaming comments is always a bad idea (as I just proved), and the use of smileys and things like 'LOL' always help show what you mean in a forum. I don't use them myself, because well, I don't.

Anyway, back onto the topic at hand. Mods in the forums. Thank you Alex for the update on some mods for the weekend. Good to hear that weekend flame-wars will soon be a thing of the past.

point taken, totally disagree. Someones flame is another persons  disagreement.

By allowing snide remarks to go by, only reinforces the snide person to continue. You suggest turning your cheek after someone lands a blow. The only thing that happens is you continue to get punched, and eventually you go down.

If I post the truth, to me that is not a flame, that is the truth

If I lie, then come down hard

P.S. That was flaming Naughty1 (only my opinion, and you can't censor my opinion). And it isn't just America, it's the world, thus why the game is called 'World Golf Tour'

Like some in this forum, I do not believe in denying your opinion. In fact, I value your opinion. A forum is for opinion. Your opinion should have facts to back them up, so that those who disagree can see your perspective, BUT if you prefer not to back up your opinion with facts, that is ok. If you have ever noticed, my posts are not figments of my imagination, they hold water, BUT some in this forum think that their opinion is the only one allowed, and then "here comes the threats"
