Nivlac is a good start. Knowing him for while, I think he be good at it.

give him the damn job, not because it's cool but because he wants it. If one of you thinks it be easy, you are out of your mind:)

and Snaike, don't let faterson win, who would translate us his witty, yet uncomprehensible prose :)

I don't like seeing players leave whether I know them or not. We may not all agree here in the forums some days but we all hope that things will improve here eventually. I think a lot of us have the same frustrations on occasion but if you can find the game enjoyable still you just have to keep trying & hoping for the best here.

What a sad day for the WGT environment.

How can WGT just sit back, and watch the anomalies continue in these forums? This can't be good for business. I may be one of the bad guys the folks are speaking of. I'm only speaking my opinion in these forums about what I see, that's what forums are for. When I share my opinion on a topic, I certainly do it in a manner that is not offensive, If I have offended someone, let me be the first apologize to them.

I've only been a member here for about two months. From what I see, there is a lot of complaining about the playability of the game. I personally don't have a problem with the way the game plays. Have I experienced a glitch in the swing meter? sure, but it's hardly a reason to start a thread to complain about it. We all have our share of writing about something that's wrong with the game, but there are measures in place to notify WGT of the problems people experience with this game.

This is a video game that more adults over 18 are playing now, when the target audience of video games are children under the age of 18. Some of the writing we see in these forums are childish at best. For someone to write something foolish to someone in these forums, and make them want to hang up their bag, and walk away from a game they love, is really sad to say the least.

Snaike, your going to be missed by me, and a lot of other ladies and gentlemen here at WGT. You where the first person to welcome me here at WGT. You showed me around, helped me get started, and even helped me at the ladders, and for that I'm very thankful. Take good care friend.

I want to agree with Faterson, and say nivlac would make a great moderator indeed.

Do you think you'll get a response from WGT, about being a moderator, nivlac? Have you given any thought, to just start moderating irregardless, what WGT says?

Can't be done. Among the vital moderator tools is the ability to move, lock, merge, split & rename threads. All 5 of these essential moderator activities are sorely missed in these forums on a daily, or should I say hourly basis. We virtually never see threads moved, merged, or split in these forums, so that incredible clutter, redundancy and chaos ensue. You can't do any of those 5 activities until the software is set up accordingly to give you the privileges. The ability to delete something (a post, let alone a multi-page thread) should be only the very last resort, used very rarely.

Further, the ability to ban users swiftly for infractions, is vital. Again, you need software privileges to do that. On the sites I moderate, I use the following range of bans: 24 hours — 3 days — 1 week — 2 weeks — 1 month — 2 months — 3 months — 6 months — a year. I hand out bans swiftly; a small offence: 24 hours; a more serious offence: 3 days, etc. A repeat offence: 2 weeks, or 1 month, or 3 months, or a year. There is no permanent ban in my system; everyone is always given the chance to improve their conduct, and I can live with any offender committing an offence once a year, should they so choose. It's like saying, "Hello again!" So far, though, after returning from 1-year bans, there have been no problems with such transgressors incurring another penalty.

No, backseat moderation tends to escalate the problem even more. The best thing we can do as users is to simply report the stupid stuff to members@worldgolftour.com right away and stay out of it ourselves. Just send a quick note with a link to the thread and a short description of the problem. Be sure to include a specific subject line so it's not glanced over.

Someone at WGT is monitoring that email virtually all the time. They may not respond to everything, but they will act on stuff like this pretty quickly.

Report problems when you see them. Don't wait for someone else to do it because they're probably waiting for you.

As for being a moderator here, I'd be glad to try and help, but it's completely up to them. It's not exactly a fun job, so I certainly won't be upset if they're not interested. =)

Right on Faterson. You seem to have a good handle on the situation. It would serve WGT well, to implement those ideas.

I understand now nivlac. Moderating can be a bit obtrusive. I guess we'll watch for banter, and report it. That's all we can do.

Why not appoint responsible moderators assigned to time blocks? I would gladly serve a 1- or 2-hour block daily for no pay, escept free balls and free club upgrades. :)
