Though i'm not one of the top master players, i can offer a few words of advice ... the keys are patience and practice ... i'm an impatient player and it's easy for me to get aggravated as i've lost a couple shots a round so far, as thunderbird has pointed out, primarily on the par 5's and 3's as they have changed substantially. I recommend shooting some skill challenges every week as they are great iron practice and you can test how your club/ball combinations do in the varied winds (you'll get a little more spin by being a master). And most players on here have swing meter issues of one kind or another which adds to the frustration, so patience is essential aswell ... stick it out and your game will improve, but no matter what, have fun and keep in mind that you're competing with the BEST gamers on this site now so if you don't live up to your expectations it's not entirely your fault ... good luck and happy hunting ...

Looking at your equipment, you seem to have what you need to be successful.  I've been there and, I agree, it takes practice.  When you have misses they need to be good misses.  Find where easy up and downs are on each hole and set yourself up so that if you do miss hit the shot, you can easily save par.  When you finally get to the master level, you need to think strategy, and that's what many people have trouble with.

Well, it has been a couple of weeks so I thought I would do a little followup to my original post. (this may help those not in the master tier with a little perspective) First off, I was able to get the game back under control at least a little bit. I am back to around -2 or so on average. That is usually with a bogey or two. (ugh!) All the advice from everyone was spot on. You really have set up every single shot and when it doesn't go as planned you better have a great followup shot(s). Getting top 70 in tournaments seems like a long shot at this time or heck, anytime. In the 9 hole unlimited tourney this week, you gotta knock down -5 to get in the money. My -3 puts me at 139th place. CTTP, forget about it. I am going to be spending money to keep playing this game. No question. Anyway, I am going to quit typing and get back to the course. There is a -5 in here somewhere.

We all have to spend money to compete.  My next purchases won't be till January unfortunately, but I'm looking at the G-10 master Irons, and the Tour W master 54° wedge.  Play them in CTTH challenges first and single play for awhile.   That is based on all the top players tibbits and company and what they used.  Secondly eliminating the Hybrid and substituting a 3rd wedge.

I aspire to be at tibbits level of play someday.
