  Anyone play this course in Laughlin, NV yet? I'm going to play it for the first time this Saturday.

  Our tee time is for 11:30 and it's supposed to be around 115*F  (@ 46*C) out there. $16 for 18 holes includes carts, ice chest & towels. At least it's cheap enough that if the heat starts to get to us we won't feel bad about leaving and not finishing the round. We've done that in Palm Springs a couple of times.

  I'll put a review of the course here next week.

  Played it a couple of times...Once last year, once right after the new year this year. Quality and condition of the course had declined quite a bit between the two visits. Pretty basic layout....Lots of sand traps. Fairways and greens were not in great shape, but then again, it was January. $16 is a good price, so, you're not really into it for much money. There is a hotel/casino right across the street if it gets too hot for you. YMMV....

  Thanks for the info. I'm driving out there to play with a friend who lives in Bullhead. He's come this way a lot and we've met in Palm Springs to play but I've never gone out there to play.

  Well, the round is over. It was over 100* when we teed off on #1 and over 115* when we finished, We stayed well hydrated and the heat really didn't feel oppressive until the last three or four holes as it was pretty breezy out there.

  The good: GPS is provided on the carts. Ice chest with two small bottles of water included in the price. Generously wide fairways, choice of tees from reasonably short to very long. Tee shot placement can be a little challenging as there are a lot of fairway bunkers. Greens roll well and aren't super fast even though they've been baking in the hot desert sun. The turf is in good shape (they keep it fairly well watered and the desert views are excellent. Quite a few holes have water in play. The people who work there are very nice and helpful, which is expected from a course associated with the Avi Hotel and Casino.

  The bad: Sand traps have a lot of rocks in them. The grass is a little thin in spots, which is expected in the heat and drought. The rough is kept a little too thin, resulting in no penalty whatsoever for missing fairways or greens. Additional water for drinking is only provided every 6 holes, way too seldom when playing in that kind of heat.

  The takeaway: I would gladly play it again for the discounted price but it is definitely not worth full price. Use GolfNow.com and book it at a discount.  If you book one of GolfNow's even lower Hot Deal tee times you can get your round even cheaper and they will let you tee off earlier in the heat as the customer load permits.Smuggle in a few extra frozen water bottles or Gatorade in your golf bag to supplement the water available on the course; we are really happy we did.

  Played it again for $16 yesterday. Another 115*day but there wasn't a hint of a breeze this time. They had no problem with us bringing in our own non-alcoholic drinks.

  When we teed off at 10:30 we were the only two people on the course! It wasn't until we made the turn to #10 another twosome teed off on #1. It was awesome having our own private course no matter how hot it was.

  The hospitality was still good and the course played exactly the same as a couple of weeks ago.  The grass may have been a touch thinner but the ground was well watered so it wasn't much of a problem.

  A lot more wildlife on the course this time. Coyotes, hawks, quail, ducks, etc. were all over the course. Fortunately we didn't see any rattlesnakes.

  Added notes:

  1. At this time of the year the clubhouse closes at 2 pm but the cart man stays until everyone finishes their rounds. He's really a nice guy, too.

  2. Inside the food court at the Avi Casino directly across the street there is a Thrifty Ice Cream shop, just like the ice cream counter in Rite Aid Drug Stores. The air conditioning and ice cream were excellent
