There is no way a ball that lands short of the green, on an uphill slope, with backspin, jumps and rolls 20 yards past the whole.  There is no way a putt that is dying at the lip of hole suddenly rings the lip of the whole a goes out.  There is no way a ball aimed left and hit left goes 20 yards right.  I know this game is in beta but it absolutely SUCKS! (And yes, I did intend to put that in capital letters).  Get the physics of the game right and this will rock.

    A) there is no backspin in this game to speak of, really... a couple of stabs at it, but nothing yet.

    B) dying at the hole is subjective to your POV.  Trust me, the machanics of the game know exactly where the ball is going to be before your club loses contact.. (why do you think the "heartbeat' starts in the CTTP competition upon striking the ball?)

    C) the reason the ball can be aimed left and goes right is called the 'beast'.. look it up on the search feature over there -------->  (it's not a bug, it's a feature!)

    D) The game is in beta, and it's free, and no one forces you to play.  If you think you would like to help out with constructive criticism, and valid product suggestions, I am quite sure that WGT would love to hear from you.  There are a number of very valid discussions going on right now that will keep this game growing and 'rock'ing for years to come.

    Hope that helps.

No, it's not perfect, but then again what is?  Improvements are being made all the time.  Still the best game out there overall in my opinion.

New guy or not, he's right.

Those observations are the things that turn new players away all the time. Until they are addressed, the title of this thread will remain true...sad, but true.

I don't necessarily have a problem with the lip outs or coming up just short of the hole (though I seem to have them FAR too often). The deviations SUCK (to quote the original poster) however. And half the time, I can't tell if it was a deviation that sucked the shot off, or if it was just that when I changed my aim point to account for wind it was never REALLY changed. I consistently have shots that are aimed 5-10 yards (or more) left or right of the pin on the Par 3's, only to have a perfect swing start the shot dead at the pin.

And I concur with tibbets.....right or wrong, these things WILL influence new players negatively. The beta period should be our chance to point these things out (which we do ad nauseum) so that they GET CHANGED. WGT, please see those words in caps. Some things really do need to get changed in the gameplay, and it seems as if you're ignoring that fact.

Maybe a little cheese is required with that whine.

I'm not as upset regarding the beast anymore. Doing 9 holes at BPB is 35 shots give or take a few. If one or two shots are a little out of whack, it won't ruin the round. I for one hardly ever hit perfect shots except when i'm putting. It bugged me before but now I'm appreciating it. Sometimes the degree of variation is annoying and I would like to see that lessened, but other than that...all works pretty well in my estimation.
