so i found myself in a patch of rough up against a bunker on the 4th.

i hit 6!!! shots with various clubs and they all ended up in the same place...a lost ball.

now my problem with this is not that the game seemed to decide to put me there over and over again but that i didnt get a drop!!! when has anyone ever played golf with mates in a club or even watched the pros...hit it into a hazard and have to play it from exactly the same spot????

    ridiculous.

sort it out...i am loosing patience

I understand your frustration. But I must point out that this game is in beta. They are working on making it better every day. In order for them to do that they need critical feedback.

"I hit 6 various clubs and it ended up in the same place." That isn't anywhere close to the type of information they need to make this game better and correct possible problems.

Did you right click on the screen and send them reports? What hole was it? What were the exact clubs you used and how did you set aim, power and click? What percent of the ball was hidden? What was the wind? What was the distance report before the ball became 'lost'?

They can't help us unless we help them. And they want us to help them make it better. That's why it's in beta.

Perhaps it's not the game at all. In that case maybe fellow players could help you out with it. But even fellow players will need more detailed critical info.

Hang in there man! It's a great game. We have the chance to help make it better. Hope to see you on the green.

Quote from the USGA official site states:

"27-1. Stroke and Distance; Ball Out of Bounds; Ball Not Found Within Five Minutes

     a. Proceeding Under Stroke and Distance

At any time, a player may, under penalty of one stroke, play a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played (see Rule 20-5), i.e., proceed under penalty of stroke and distance.

Except as otherwise provided in the Rules, if a player makes a stroke at a ball from the spot at which the original ball was last played, he is deemed to have proceeded under penalty of stroke and distance.

     b. Ball Out of Bounds

If a ball is out of bounds, the player must play a ball, under penalty of one stroke, as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played (see Rule 20-5).

     c. Ball Not Found Within Five Minutes

If a ball is lost as a result of not being found or identified as his by the player within five minutes after the player's Side or his or their caddies have begun to search for it, the player must play a ball, under penalty of one stroke, as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played (see Rule 20-5)."

When you have a "Lost Ball" you are not entitled to a drop. The penalty is stroke AND distance, as opposed to a ball in a hazard (water). In other words, take your medicine, aim somewhere else (somewhere safe) and continue on.

I just got done playing a round......Some one wrote in one of the other posts something like "Don't play too many good holes in a row the machine will not let you play well after that"  I birdied 1-2-3 got on #4 Hit a fairly good tee shot the 2nd shot..... wind is right to left at 3 MPH, I set the ball marker just off the left edge of the bunker (again wind right to left) and hit the shot on the nose......ball goes right (not straight) and ends up in the bunker....now again ball marker LEFT of bunkers wind moving to the left and hit it on the nose.....ball goes RIGHT....COME ON!!!!  Next hole hit the tee shot behind the mound right out in front of the green at 60 yards or so, wind in my face at 5 MHP (a little left to right wind) I move the ball marker left of the hole a little and hit the shot.....ball goes almost straight right, misses the green and ends up in the sand right of the green, it was like I shanked the shot and only missed the hitting the ball perfect by just a little bit. MAYBE the guy was right when said don't play too many holes in a row well or the game will screw you.

No, he was not right.  There is no conspiracy to keep scores high.  There is, however, a critical element of the game which you have not discovered yet.  Once you do, the frustration level will drop considerably.

I guess the good thing is that I have not played that well in a row. So I have not noticed a conspiracy hole. But I have noticed there is more to this game than the surface. The only frustration I have experienced is jumpy swings that make it hard to accurately swing. I also noticed one hole that the club distance seems to be inaccurate to the shot distance. I will be sure to "right click on that hole" and send my observations.

GMTIM, keep in mind you can always let it swing through if you have a jumpy meter.  Swinging through will often times get rid of the jumpiness for the next shot too and there is no penalty for doing so.
