Well GatorBandGolfer you came back. I want to thank you first of all for proving my point.

    Let's take inventory.

You played two games and jumped on the forum and ranted (your own word) on about how terrible the game is. Just your opinion, of course. Then you came back (for the game?) and played three more times and once again came to the forum to rant (Encarta Dictionary: to speak or say something in a very loud, aggressive, or bombastic way, usually at length and repetitively).

In your latest ranting you decried that the game has inconsistencies. You did not however give any constructive details on those inconsistencies. That would be very helpful for the developers since this game is in beta. That's basically what the forum here is used for. So that the users of a free beta game can help the developers work out the kinks.

You claim that in your forty year golfing experience you learned to get a 'feel' for it. But after only five times you claim that this game doesn't produce that 'feel'. I am truly not surprised!

You claimed that this forum has devolved into childish name calling as all forums do. I re-read all the posts that responded to your first rant (again, your word). No one, myself included, called you any 'names'. We did have some opinions about your having only played two games and trashed it without any constructive criticism. In fact the only name calling came from you! Apparently we're all a bunch of 2nd graders.

You invited members to critique your ideas presented. I would love to if only there were any presented! Not one constructive remark or idea in either of your postings.

Until your entries the posts in this forum have all been centered on how to make the game better or requests from players seeking advice on how to make their game play better. In my opinion that's what this forum is for. If you want a social or political forum for ranting, there are plenty out there to choose from. If you want to learn to play this game on WGT and provide critical feedback to the developers you're in the right place.

No one is forcing you to play this game. Nor did you pay for it. If after a few tries you don't like this game then move on to something else. So far your only contribution has been pointless ranting about how you don't like this game. I think I can say that most of us here love this game and many of us are willing to contribute to ensure its' success.

I hope that you stick with this game. I know for a fact that if you give it a true chance you will see the same thing most of us do. Many of us here are committed to helping these folks at WGT in developing this game. If you are experiencing inconsistencies get on the forum and describe them in detail. Everyones' ideas and suggestions are welcome here. But please remember we are only presenting ideas and suggestions, which are open to debate and criticism. If you don't get a response from WGT (unlikely) one or more members will gladly help you with anything.

I would love to stay and chat longer but we school children are here to attend golfing classes. Mr tibbets gives regular lessons in humble pie :-)

I'm going to have a drink since you said it all Jihad (I know I know...misspelled but accurate).

I want to say one thing and one thing only.  Golf is not about ranting.  Not for real and not for here.  Golf is about honor and about playing the course, not other people.  You can't ever 'win' in golf.  You can only improve.  Golf is about the constant striving for perfection.  If you do that, then you're already a winner because nobody can deny your passion for the game.

This is, to my knowledge, the ONLY sport without a referee except yourself.  Therein lies honor.  We each play alone thus we are our own referee under the rules.  If one dishonors the game through rant, then one is not a true player.

    My 2 cents

GatorBandGolfer, gladiator, and everyone who contributed to this thread--part of providing a forum on wgt.com is to give our players a chance to interact with one another and provide feedback to the team. We are encouraged every day by the passion of our players, and know that discussions don't heat up unless you feel passionate about something. We are passionate about this game as well, and just as we strive to keep a level-headed tone in all our communications, we hope you will too. I'm sure Gator never expected his well-meaning complaint to spark such a heated debate, and gladiator only wants criticisms and suggestions to be detailed and constructive.

So what say we all go and hit a couple of rounds and have a great weekend? :)

To answer the topic question in a word, "No."

Everyone has provided the reasons, I'm pretty much in the "you haven't really played it enough" camp.  Get 30 or 40 rounds under your belt (and coincidently learn the ins and outs of the game in the process) and see if you still feel the same way.

I'll agree to a couple of rounds as long as the topic is discussed.  My buy!

I don't mind criticism of the game because it's beta and things need to be tweaked.  But I mind criticism when you've no experience playing the game and making a knee-jerk reaction after playing only 3 or 4 rounds.  It isn't fair to WGT and I think it's not fair to us who have spent time assessing everything we can.

I'm not saying I'm perfect.  I'm not.  But I do try and yes, I'm passionate about the game.  The actual, for real game, has taught me more about myself than most other things and I finally came to realize there's no such thing as perfection.  Only the pursuit of perfection and improving one's skills and using one's mind.

So Alex?  I'll buy you those rounds but let's define the difference between valid and invalid criticism.  K?  You're a nice person Alex and thanks for trying to calm everybody down.  Us players tend to get passionate about this or that because we DO play.  To have someone 'diss' the game after only 3 or 4 rounds is an insult to us because they haven't the knowledge we have.

In case you're wondering, this is in support of WGT, not against it.  You guys have done a great job.  We're just out here assessing results to date is all.  When you come out with a final version, I have a feeling we'll be more critical.  :)  But for now it's beta and there should be forgiveness and understanding.

To the above poster, should you actually read this:

You should probably master the finer points of the caps lock key, grammar and the english language before you start handing out critical remarks about a game in it's beta (beta means testing) stage.

Constructive input is always welcome, but when you phrase your argument like... well like that... you come off sounding not very knowledgable and more than slightly moronic.

    Just.. lol

O.k. I was a little critical of the game the one and only time I post in here.  The game is fun but I think has some quirks to it. The Beta thing i get, so here are some of the problems I see.

I have noticed on the 1 of the par 3's that a lot of the times (with a right to left wind) i will play the ball out to the right and hit the swing meter right on the nose and the ball is yanked left of the hole right away in stead of going right and letting the wind bring back in.  This happens a lot.   The second thing is the putting  I can leave the put maker inside the high side of the hole on a short putt (5-6 feet) and there is some break according to green line movement.  I can hit the ball (I know it isn't too hard) and the ball will miss the hole on the HIGH side and not even touch the hole......now if the marker is INSIDE the hole how does the ball not even touch the hole??? it should at least touch or jump the or or rim out if hit to hard but to stay high and not touch it....that is not right.   Good luck with the game.
