I'm not complaining (too much), after all this game is a great way to while away a few hours on a rainy day, but after progressing to the rank of Pro and using the club upgrade on the previous version I am a little miffed that I'm now reduced to the ranks of 'Hack' and have to play a beginners set of clubs. My awards (few it is true, but did include an Ace, of which I was very proud) have been left behind in Hawaii too, so I'm feeling less than impressed at this 'upgrade'.

To make it even worse I could go off and brew a cuppa inbetween starting the backswing and eventually hitting the ball (with apparantly little control)!

Sorry folks, I know you mean well and I do really appreciate the opportunity of playing the game, but this was definitely a case of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it', can we all go back to the old PGA Bali Hai course for a few rounds while you sort the bugs out?

Since the end result will most likely be better than the original I think it's worth waiting for.  From what I've heard, they're planning on integrating those things into a more fully rounded version of the game.  One step back usually results in two steps forward.  Have more faith in WGT planning.

Also, I wouldn't get too comfortable with any awards or anything you have now, because I'd assume once this goes un-beta everything will be wiped yet again.

Guys, this is a Beta version, which means it is here to specifically work out all of the bugs and get gamelplay right.  There is no better way to do that than to have people testing it out, reporting errors, making suggestions, etc.  Despite its flaws, its a much more dynamic game than the old PGA charity challenge skills competition ever was.

The game is quite playable as is, once you take the time and study the methodology of it.  Yes, it is difficult.  Golf is meant to be difficult.  But you don;t need stance control or better clubs to shoot well.  If you don't believe me, have a look at my profile stats, and those of the other top 10 players in the Amateur division.

Give it a chance guys, and be patient.  This version of the game has a very broad scope, and it takes awhile for the folks at WGT to address all the issues.  Your input is valuable, so long as it remains constructive.  Work on what you have to work with in the meantime, and you'll find that once other options become available to you, you'll be well-equipped to know how to implement them into your game.

Thanks for replies, if there is any chance of our feedback leading to an improved end product I'm in favour, do you think there is any chance of a swing speed control being introduced? There are many occasions in my real game when I vary the speed of my swing as well as the length in order to add finesse to a shot and I imagine a similar feature in cybergolf would be quite handy too.

We are always listening to your feedback, and it definitely helps to shape our product. One of our goals is to make WGT the most realistic golf game ever, so we welcome suggestions on features to enhance gameplay. As most of you already mentioned, we are in Beta right now, so the issues you report to us help us work out the wrinkles. Many of you are also aware that there are currently a few award bugs. Our #1 priority is to make sure everyone gets to keep their awards after we fix the bugs. But keep in mind that as this is a Beta, wiping the awards is a possibility even though it would be a last resort.

I'm a game developer myself actually, and by removing various aspects of the gameplay, they can tailor the testing they get to more specific scenarios and goals.

    Keep up the great work!
