I have indeed played here from the beginning, and the amount of time I devote to this game is semi-embarassing. :) In fact, I'm considered a Master under new tier groupings.

I just can't for the life of me figure out why you had to change the core structure (of putting) of this great game to go along with this US Open tournament.  I had finally gotten to a place where my putting was damn fine.  My preference was to purposely hit left or right of "perfect" on putts under 10 feet.  It was so much easier than messing with the arrow and aiming for the perfect.  There is now zero forgiveness, and it just doesn't make sense to me.

I'm shocked that there isn't more backlash about the putting change.  This is exactly like the last upgrade...and I pray that WGT admins treat this one in the same way (which is to listen to the community and CHANGE it back to what it was!)  As I said with the last one, I want the ability to to play like Tiger Woods out of a golf video game.  If I wanted hopeless mediocrity, I'd go to my local golf course (with my 18 handicap) and play a round.

I plead with you to at least consider it....maybe we could create a poll and see how the public feels?  Majority would win, obviously.  I just know that I'm not the only player (that ADORES this game) that feels this way.  Thank you for everything.

    Respectfully,

    Nathan

ps - I'm sure someone like Tibbets could argue that the putting change is acceptable (since he's already mastered it).  But let's face it, that guy is a machine...I'm truly not convinced he's even a human being with the scores that he puts up.  For the rest of us mortals, please save us from quitting this beautiful game.

pss - Tibbets, if you read this...how did you manage to master the drastically different putting so quickly?  I guess the entire game is simple if you can hit a perfect meter everytime...oh well.

I'm going to have to chime in and completely agree with Nathan's comments.  Please, please, I beg you, either fix the putting or let's go back to the way it was pre-US Open.

    Thank you for listening.

I'm not Tibbets, but I did get the putting down right from the start of this update.  Actually found it easier.  But yes you do have to hit the perfect mark to have a chance to make a putt over 10 feet (unless you seriously misread).  The issue you are having is that you are a little backward in your logic, I think.  Why would you purposely mis-hit a putt in the first place?  I don't mean to sound like a jerk, so please don't take it that way, but in real life would you purposely swing your putter on an inside-out or outside-in plane to compensate for a read?  I wouldn't, I've always been taught to hit the putter as square as possible, maybe it's just me.

Have to agree with Lee also. For the most part if you hit the mark, it starts on your intended line. You might could make the case that they could make it a little less sensitive, ie a pixel left or right is still ok. There is still some deviations, that happen for time to time, but not nearly as much previous to this latest update. And purposely mishitting? That should never give you a consistant result. Why should you ever be rewarded for mishitting? Honestly I think they should mix in right mishits going left instead of right ever time, and vice versa. They are doing you a favor by still started it on the side of the mishit.

It is true that in the past mishitting on purpose was a great way to direct the ball to the hole.  In this revision we have changed it so that it is more about aiming to chose the correct line and then executing a shot in the sweet spot. This is to give more control to the users over their putts.

maybe by making the centre line thicker the closer you are to the hole so theres less lee way for error on say putts of 5 feet and less. just a idea

by the way i think the sweet spot on my putter is missing

I would also propose that you add some tick marks on the swing meter. At a minimum add them at 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4. At a maximum I would put them at 1/8th increments. This would help us with distance control. At least make it an option where we can select it to be either on or off.

You can still mishit on the swing and bury putts, it's just a matter of knowing how off line the ball will go, and compensating accordingly.

It's amusing to me to hear so many people want to go back to the previous putting system, which I hated with a passion.   At least with this system, I know where the ball is going to go, unlike the previous putting version where I literally had no clue where the ball was going most of the times on putts.

Actually WGTadmin2, as Marioh was stating in another post somewhere, it's actually easier now to mishit on purpose and have a good result.  It's not how I play for the most part, though on putts under 4 ft I'll do it from time to time just for the sake of 'tapping in' quickly.  This kind of exploit does exist in this game, whether you think it does or not.  'More control', as you put it, also means more control to purposefully send a ball offline to compensate for a break.

Make a grid with increments and tape it to your screen under the meter. I did that just a few days after signing up.

The putting I can't deal with. This update is absurd. I have a better chance chipping in than sinking a putt. I was enjoying BP before they screwed with the putting. I stop my swing on the thin perfect mark maybe 25% of the time. Maybe make the mark wider, or put putting back like it was. Time for a self-imposed suspension from the Tour.
